Smith Completes NE10 Player of the Year Hat Trick to Highlight Five All-NE10 Selections

Senior forward is Conference's second three-time Player of the Year, running Stonehill's run of award winners to four-straight years

EASTON, Mass. (November 14, 2018) – Stonehill College senior All-America forward Kacie Smith has earned Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year honors for the third straight year and highlights five All-NE10 selections for the Skyhawks, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

Smith, who is one of just two NE10 Players of the Year in program history along with former teammate Erika Kelly, '16 who received the honors in 2015, joins former Bentley University standout Jen Bunce as the only two three-time Player of the Year honorees in NE10 history. Smith, the only multiple NE10 Player of the Year recipient in program history, runs Stonehill's streak for receiving the award to four-straight years.

Smith highlights five All-NE10 selections for Stonehill, with sophomore back Elaine Bachelder joining her on the All-Conference first team. Senior back MacKenzie Greenberg and junior midfielder Michaela Antonellis both earned spots on the All-NE10 second team, while senior forward Carly Andersen collects third team accolades. It marks the most All-NE10 selections for Stonehill since earning a program-best seven in 2013 and the quintet gives the program 62 All-Conference selections all-time, including 30 on the first team.

Stonehill also placed two freshmen on the NE10 All-Rookie Team in forward Olivia Cameron and back Charlotte Cloosterman. It marks the second-straight year Stonehill has placed two first year student-athletes on the team, giving the program 16 All-Rookie Team selections since the NE10 started the award in 2008.

In addition to her three-straight NE10 Player of the Year honors, Smith earns All-NE10 accolades for the fourth time in her career with her third-straight first team selection. She joins Stonehill Athletic Hall of Famer Caitlin Gleason '08, as the only two four-time All-Conference selections in program history and Smith is one of just three to collect first team honors three times, along with Kelly and Kelly Latendresse '07. The reigning Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Player of the Year leads Division II for the second-straight year with 72 points and 31 goals, while leading the team with ten assists, which ranks third in the NE10, and eight gamewinning goals. Smith has recorded at least a point in 17 of the Skyhawks 19 games this season, netting multiple goals ten times, with five hat tricks. She has recorded seven-plus points five times, including a career-high nine with four goals and an assist in a 9-0 win over Saint Thomas Aquinas College on September 5.

Smith is one of just two players in NCAA Division II history to surpass 100 career goals and 200 points. She is ranked second in NCAA Division II history with her NE10 record 255 points and 108 goals, to go with her program-record 39 assists, which is tied for fourth in NE10 history. Smith, a two-time Longstreth/NFHCA North Region Player of the Year, had a record-breaking junior season in which she led all three levels of NCAA field hockey in scoring and goals, while leading the NE10 with her school-record 17 assists. She set an NCAA Division II record with 41 goals, while her 99 points set a new NE10 single-season standard. Smith earned a spot on the NE10 Academic All-Conference team as a junior and appeared in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of the November 6, 2017 issue of Sports Illustrated. Smith is a Zag/NFHCA National Academic Squad member and been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll multiple semesters.

Bachelder, an NE10 All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman, earns All-NE10 honors for the first time with her spot on the first team. She leads a Stonehill defensive unit that ranks fifth in the NE10 with a 1.45 team goals against average, while yielding 11.2 shots and six penalty corners per game. Bachelder, who earned NE10 and NFHCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week honors on September 5, has started all 19 games for the Skyhawks and has recorded three defensive saves, and dished one assist.

Bachelder, a Synapse Sports Division II All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman, has started 38 of her 39 games played in her two-year career, totaling four defensive saves and two assists.

Greenberg also earns All-NE10 honors for the first time with her second team selection. She is also a key member of the Stonehill defensive unit that ranks fifth in the NE10 with a 1.45 team goals against average, allowing 11.2 shots and six penalty corners per game, while also stepping forward into midfield for the Skyhawks as well. Greenberg has started all 19 games this season and recorded two defensive saves, scoring her first career goal in a 3-1 win at American International College on September 26.

Greenberg has started 56 of the 63 games she has played over her Stonehill career, totaling a goal and assist for three points, along with four defensive saves. She has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll for her efforts in the classroom and received the Athletic Department's Community Service Award last spring for heading up the field hockey program's community service efforts, including a five-kilometer road race on campus and gala in her hometown that has raised thousands of dollars for pediatric cancer research. Greenberg authored the book Living with the Ribbon, detailing her ongoing battle with thyroid cancer.

Antonellis earns All-NE10 honors for the second-straight year with her second team choice. She is one of 18 in program history to earn All-Conference honors multiple seasons after being named to the NE10 first team as a sophomore. Antonellis has started all 19 games this fall and totaled four goals and three assists for 11 points. She matched her career-high with a pair of goals in the 9-0 win over St. Thomas Aquinas on September 15 and spurred the Skyhawks to yesterday's 7-1 NE10 Quarterfinal win at No. 6 LIU Post with a goal and assist.

Antonellis, a Longstreth/NFHCA Division II All-American as a sophomore, has started 42 of her 57 career games played and totaled eight goals and seven assists for 23 points, while also chipping in with three defensive saves. She has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and received the Athletic Department's "Breakout Sophomore" Award last spring after totaling four goals and four assists last fall.

Andersen joins Smith and Antonellis as one of 18 in program history with multiple All-NE10 nods by earning third team honors. A second team All-NE10 selection last season, Andersen is second on the team with 14 goals, six assists and 34 points, ranking seventh in the NE10 for goals and points and ninth for assists, having also chipped in with three game-winning goals. She has netted multiple goals on three occasions this season, including a pair in yesterday's 7-1 win at No. 6 LIU Post, with a career-high matching five points on two goals and an assist in the 6-1 win at the University of New Haven on October 20.

Andersen has started 50 of the 74 games she has played over her career and ranks seventh in program history with her 38 career goals, while ranking eighth with 86 points, having also dished out ten assists and netted six game winning goals. She has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll for her efforts in the classroom as well.

Cameron, a two-time NE10 Rookie of the Week, has started 11 of 18 games played in her first collegiate season, ranking third on the team with nine goals and 21 points, having added three assists, and scored two game-winning goals. She has posted three multi-goal games, recording two goals and an assist in wins over Franklin Pierce University on October 9, and New Haven on October 20.

Cloosterman has played all 19 games in her first season at Stonehill, starting 17, and is a key member of the Skyhawks defensive unit that ranks fifth in the NE10 with a 1.45 team goals against average, allowing 11.2 shots and six penalty corners per game. She has recorded two defensive saves and dished out two assists this season.

Stonehill (13-6, 8-5 NE10), ranked No. 9 in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II poll, is seeded sixth in this week's NE10 Tournament and has advanced to the semifinal round after its 7-1 triumph at third-seeded and No. 6-ranked LIU Post on Tuesday. The Skyhawks will visit second-seeded and No. 5-ranked Merrimack College (16-3, 11-2 NE10) for their semifinal round matchup in North Andover, Massachusetts, on Friday at 4 p.m. The NE10 Championship is scheduled for Sunday at the highest remaining seed at 1 p.m.
