Watertown, Massachusetts, senior All-American named Player of the Week for fourth time this fall overall

EASTON, Mass. (October 26, 2015) – Stonehill College senior All-American Erika Kelly (Watertown, Massachusetts/Watertown) has been tabbed the Northeast-10 Conference's Player of the Week for field hockey for the second straight week the league office announced today.
Kelly, who has been named the NE-10 Player of the Week four times this fall (ninth career), led Stonehill to a 5-3 victory over American International College in the Skyhawks lone game of the week on Wednesday. She scored three of the Skyhawks five goals in the win, netting the 200th point of her career in the process. Kelly's first half goal gave Stonehill a 2-1 lead less than 18 minutes into the game, while her second marker put the Skyhawks back in front 8:55 into the second half. She capped her first hat trick of the season (11th career) with an insurance goal with 4:20 remaining to put the finishing touches on her third straight multi goal game while extending her point streak to 16 games dating back to last season.
With her three game multi-goal streak, Kelly now leads Division II in goals (1.27/gm), assists (0.67/gm) and points (3.20/gm) per game. She leads the Northeast-10 in goals (19), assists (10) and points (48), having also netted two game winning goals. Kelly has notched at least a point in all 15 games this season, posting six multi-goal games.
Kelly, the reigning National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) North Region Player of the Year, is a two-time first team All-American and first team All-Northeast-10 selection. She became just the fifth player in Division II history to reach 200 career points at American International last week and enters the week just a goal shy of the NE-10 career record of 91 by Sammy Macy (2007-10) from UMass Lowell. Kelly's program record 200 points ranks third all-time in NE-10 history, 19 points shy of Macy's record, while her 20 career assists ranks sixth all-time at Stonehill. Kelly also ranks fifth in NCAA Division II history for points and third in goals.
Kelly made program and NE-10 history as a sophomore in 2013 when she led Division II with a program and Northeast-10 record 38 goals to go with two assists for a program and NE-10 record matching 78 points, netting a program-record and NE-10 high ten game winning goals, including two in overtime. Her 1.81 goals per game is a Division II record, while her 3.71 points per game also led the country and her point total shared the Division II lead, finishing just two goals shy of the NCAA Division II record of 40 by Jamie Vanartsdalen of Bloomsburg (Pa.) University in 2008.
Stonehill (10-5, 8-2 NE-10), ranked ninth in last week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, is back in action on Tuesday night when it hosts 6th-ranked Merrimack College for a huge NE-10 and Purple and White match at W.B. Mason Stadium at 7 p.m. The Skyhawks wrap up their regular season slate by hosting Pace University on Senior Night on Friday at 7 p.m. Stonehill debuted at No. 4 in the inaugural NCAA Division II North Regional rankings released by the NCAA selection committee late last week.
