Londonderry, N.H., senior All-American earns first team at large honors
2014 Capital One Academic All-District At Large Teams
EASTON, Mass. (May 15, 2014) – Stonehill College senior All-American Devin Ingersoll (Londonderry, New Hampshire/Londonderry) has earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District I at large first team for the second straight year, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members in Division II from the East Region.
Ingersoll is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, voted on by members of the CoSIDA Academic All-America committee, to be announced later this month. The CoSIDA women's at large Academic All-America program includes student-athletes competing in bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, and water polo. Ingersoll's Academic All-District selection is the fourth for the Stonehill field hockey program over the last fourth seasons, with former teammates Lindsey Pinkham, '11, and Kathryn Nelson, '12, both receiving the honors in 2011 to go with her two selections.
Ingersoll, who will graduate on Sunday with a 3.85 cumulative grade point average as an environmental science major at Stonehill, adds this latest honor to a mantle full of awards over her career. She was recently named the Edward E. Martin Female Scholar-Athlete Award recipient at the Senior Student-Athlete Awards dinner and is a nominee for both the Northeast-10 Conference Woman of the Year and Outstanding Female Scholar-Athlete Award. Ingersoll earned the NE-10 Sport Excellence Award for field hockey this season and is a two-time NE-10 Academic All-Conference pick, having earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester.
Ingersoll is a two-time All-America selection, collecting second team honors from both the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) and synapsesports.com this fall after being named to the Longstreth/NFHCA All-America second team as a junior. She is a two-time All-NE-10 first team pick and was named the NE-10 Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2010.
Ingersoll started all 22 games for Stonehill last fall and led the team with 11 assists to go with five goals for 21 points. She netted two gamewinning goals and also chipped in with a defensive save, ranking sixth in the NE-10 and 12th nationally for assists. She posted a season-high two goals in a 4-2 win at Saint Michael's College on September 14 as well as the Skyhawks overtime setback to 7th-ranked Merrimack College in the NCAA Tournament.
Ingersoll, who started all 84 of Stonehill's games over her four year career, has totaled 24 goals and 20 assists for 68 points over her collegiate career with seven gamewinners. Ingersoll posted a team-high 25 points her junior year with a team-best 12 goals to go with one assist. She ranks tenth in program history for career points, sixth all-time for career assists and ninth for career goals.
Ingersoll was named to the womensfieldhockey.com Division II and NE-10 All-Rookie team selection. She has been named to the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA National Academic Squad all four years and has earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status all seven semesters and Athletic Director's Honor Roll six times to date. She was also selected to participate in the Front Rush/NFHCA Division II Senior All-Star Game. Ingersoll, who is the field hockey team's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative, studied abroad in Australia during the spring 2013 semester, spending time doing research in the Outback, and completed an internship at the Stonehill Farm in the summer of 2013. She recently was recognized with the Student Life Vice President's Award and Academic Excellence Award in Environmental Science and is a member of Lambda Epsilon Sigma Honor Society.
Stonehill finished the 2013 season with an 18-4 record overall, including an 8-2 clip in the Northeast-10. The Skyhawks are ranked fifth in the final regular season Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II and earned the fifth NCAA Tournament bid in program history after reaching the NE-10 Championship for a fifth time. Stonehill opened the season with a program-record 16-straight wins and fell just a win shy of the single-season record of 19 set in 2005.
With 20 intercollegiate sports, Stonehill boasts one of the top athletic and academic programs in the country. The Skyhawks have finished in the top three in the final NE-10 Presidents' Cup standings nine straight years, winning the Cup four times, including a streak of three-straight from 2009-10 through 2011-12. This prestigious award is given to the top performing athletic school in the Northeast-10, across all sports and seasons. Stonehill has received the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Achievement each of the first two years if the program's existence of honoring programs with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90-percent or better. The Skyhawks have earned a 97% Academic Success Ranking (ASR) by the NCAA, which considers the academic success rate of the institution based on the graduation rate of student-athletes, good for fifth among all NCAA Division II institutions, with ten Skyhawk teams receiving a perfect rating of 100%. In addition, the Skyhawks are ranked sixth in the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings used to assess the academic and athletic standards of all NCAA and NAIA athletic programs.
