Kelly adds two more goals as Skyhawks improve to 6-0
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (September 21, 2013) – Stonehill College, ranked fourth in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, ran its season-opening winning streak to six games with a 3-1 decision over Southern Connecticut State University in a non-conference field hockey matchup at Jess Dow Field today.
Stonehill, off to a 6-0 start for the first time since winning its first seven games in 2007, got two more goals from sophomore Erika Kelly (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) who has now scored a Northeast-10 Conference leading 13 goals in just five games played. She is now only seven goals shy of the program's single-season record of 20 goals set by Claire Hourihan, '10, in 2008 and matched in 2009. Sophomore Maggie Travers (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) also contributed her first collegiate goal for the Skyhawks in the win, while senior Kelsey Davis (Gardner, Mass./Gardner) dished an assist.
Junior Elizabeth Genovese (Street, Md./North Harford) posted five saves in the Stonehill cage to preserve the win. Stonehill held a 33-12 advantage in shots for the contest and an 11-5 edge in penalty corners. Sophomore Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham) finished with 17 stops in the Southern Connecticut goal.

Senior Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills) scored the lone Southern Connecticut State goal on a penalty stroke to prevent the shutout.
Kelly opened the scoring with a penalty stroke of her own just 9:23 into the contest. She added her 13th marker 8:51 into the second half with a shot from the left side over Dolloff's right shoulder off a pass from Davis. Travers gave Stonehill a three goal lead less than four minutes later with an unassisted marker at 47:29. Cebry capped the scoring at 51:27 with her penalty stroke goal.
Stonehill (6-0, 1-0 NE-10) is off until Wednesday when it hosts Franklin Pierce University for a non-conference matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium at 7 p.m. Southern Connecticut State (0-5, 0-0 NE-10) travels to 5th-ranked LIU Post on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
