Ingersoll and Sideris named second team All-Americans
EASTON, Mass. (November 15, 2012) – Two members of the Stonehill College field hockey team have earned a spot on the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II All-America squad.
Junior Devin Ingersoll (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) and sophomore Emily Sideris (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) were both selected to the NFHCA All-American second team, marking the 17th and 18th All-America selections in program history.
Ingersoll earns her first All-America award after having also collected All-Northeast-10 honors for the first time this fall with a spot on the first team. The 2010 NE-10 Rookie of the Year led Stonehill with 25 points (11th NE-10) on a team-high 12 goals (6th) with one assist in 19 games this season. Ingersoll netted a team-high four gamewinning goals (3rd) and her goal total this season is tied for tenth on the program's single-season list.
Ingersoll has scored a team-best five goals to go with an assist for a team-high 11 points in ten NE-10 games this fall. She has posted a pair of multi goal games this season and scored the gamewinning marker with under three minutes to play in a 2-1 win at Saint Michael's College on the final day of the regular season that clinched a postseason berth. Her three gamewinning goals in Conference play rank second among NE-10 leaders.
Ingersoll has started all 62 games over her three year career at Stonehill and totaled 19 goals and nine assists for 47 points. In addition to Rookie of the Year honors from the NE-10 her freshman year, she was also named to the NE-10 and womensfieldhockey.com Division II All-Rookie teams. Ingersoll has earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status every semester at the College and Athletic Director's Honor Roll two semesters.
Sideris earns All-America honors for the first time after also collecting her first All-Northeast-10 selection with a spot on the second team. She enjoyed a breakout season for Stonehill this fall, posting four goals and four assists for 12 points over 17 games played. She registered a team-high three assists (12th) in nine NE-10 games, adding a goal for five points. Sideris dished two assists in a 3-2 overtime win against American International and scored the gamewinning goal in a 3-0 triumph over Saint Michael's.
Sideris has started 11 of the 28 games she has played over her two seasons at Stonehill. She has earned NE-10 Commissioner's and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status two semesters at the College.
Stonehill finished with a 9-10 record overall this season, including a 5-5 mark in NE-10 play to finish sixth in the Conference standings. The Skyhawks earned a 15th-straight postseason trip before falling to eventual Northeast-10 Tournament champions UMass Lowell in the first round.
