Skyhawk freshmen honored after standout seasons for NCAA semifinalists

Ingersoll earns the national recognition after becoming the fourth Stonehill freshman to earn Rookie/Freshman of the Year honors in the Northeast-10 following a standout introduction to the collegiate level. She started all 23 games for the Skyhawks this fall and ranks fourth on the team with 12 points having scored three goals (one gamewinner) to go with six assists. Ingersoll posted three goals and an assist for seven points in ten NE-10 contests.

Ingersoll, named the NE-10 Rookie of the Week twice and womensfieldhockey.com Division II Rookie of the Week once, had a breakout performance in a 5-2 Conference victory over Southern Connecticut State University when she posted two goals and an assist on September 28. She also dished an assist on the Skyhawks lone goal in a 1-0 NCAA Tournament opening round game on November 23.

Sheehan, also one of three NE-10 All-Rookie team selections this fall, started all 23 games in her first collegiate season. She was part of a defense that ranks second in the NE-10 with eight shutouts (3^rd nationally), while ranking third with a 1.67 goals against average (8^th), holding opponents to 10.4 shots per game, including 6.21 on goal, and 6.52 penalty corners per contest.

Sheehan finished the season with two defensive saves, one coming in a 3-2 NE-10 victory over Franklin Pierce University on October 19, the other was against fifth-ranked East Stroudsburg University in her second collegiate game.

Stonehill (16-7, 9-1 NE-10) wrapped up its season at the Fall Championships Festival with a semifinal round loss to UMass Lowell. The Skyhawks were ranked fifth in the final Kookaburra/NFHCA Division II poll and finished second in the NE-10 standings to the River Hawks.
