Shrewsbury, Mass., native collects honors for first time in career

EASTON, Mass. (September 20, 2010) – Stonehill College junior forward Kathryn Nelson (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) has been named the womensfieldhockey.com Division II and Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week after leading the Skyhawks to a pair of wins last week.

Nelson, who earns the weekly award for the first time in her career, scored all four of Stonehill's goals in a 2-0 week. She scored in each half of Tuesday's 2-1 victory over rival Bentley University, netting the game-winning goal just 55-seconds after the Falcons had scored to knot the score at a goal each early in the second half. Nelson added two more goals in Saturday's 2-1 triumph at Franklin Pierce University, tallying the game-winning strike once again with just a minute left in regulation.

Nelson, who has scored four-straight Stonehill goals, has moved into third place among NE-10 leaders with her team-best six goals through six games this season, including a Conference-high two gamewinners. She has also dished one assist and ranks fourth in the NE-10 with her team-best 13 points.
