Title: Running Backs
College: Stonehill '14

Jamal Johnson is entering his first season as an assistant coach at his alma mater. He will serve as running backs coach for head coach Eli Gardner.

Johnson joins the Stonehill coaching staff, while also serving the City of Brockton, his hometown, as a school police officer within the Brockton Police Department. Prior to returning to his alma mater, he was a volunteer assistant coach with the Brockton High School freshman football team in 2016. He has played an instrumental role in the organization of the annual Henry Thevenin Football Clinic, held at Brockton High, since its inception in 2015. The clinic promotes positivity to city youths through football in memory of the former Stonehill and BHS student-athlete who passed away from complications from leukemia in 2011.

Johnson, who graduated from the Massachusetts State Police SSPO Academy in 2015, is a 2014 graduate of Stonehill, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology. He was a four year letterwinner for the Skyhawks at running back, appearing in 28 career games and totaling 968 yards on 229 carries with seven touchdowns, including 582 yards and three scores on 125 attempts over eight games as a senior to help guide the Skyhawks to a share of the NE10 regular season championship. He earned NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status for his efforts in the classroom. Johnson served as a member of Stonehill's Legacy Committtee his senior year, which raised $25,000 in support of the Henry Thevenin Memorial Scholarship as the class gift from his senior class of 2014, which is awarded annually to an academically qualified, financially needy, student from Brockton.
