Ken Goodwin is entering his sixth season as an assistant coach with the Stonehill football program, taking over as defensive coordinator this fall after serving as special teams coordinator for the last three years. He will continue as position coach of the Skyhawks linebackers coach for the third-straight year after leading the defensive line in prior seasons.

Goodwin has been an integral part of a coaching staff which has helped produce one of the top defensive units in the Northeast-10 Conference, as well as all of Division II. Stonehill ranked second in the NE-10 and 11th nationally in Division II for total defense last season, allowing just 279.2 yards per game, and second in the Conference for passing defense (17th nationally) at 158.5 yards per game. The Skyhawks led the NE-10 (23rd) in rushing defense (120.6 yds/gm) and ranked fourth (34th) for scoring defense (20.9 ppg). Junior linemant Andrew Kibarian was recognized with All-NE-10 second team honors following the season. In addition to his work with the defensive line, Goodwin was the Skyhawks video coordinator and strength and conditioning coach.

Stonehill led the NE-10 in total defense in 2014, allowing just 284 yards per game, as well as both passing (189.3 yds/gm) and rushing defense (94.7 yds/gm). Stonehill was second in the Conference for scoring defense (19.6 ppg allowed). The Skyhawks ranked in the top ten nationally in Division II for total defense (6th) and rushing defense (10th), while also ranking 17th for red zone defense (NE-10 low 65.7%), 31st for scoring defense and 35th for passing defense. Senior lineman Taylor Russell earned All-Northeast-10 honors, while freshmen Alex Parenteau and Jermel Wright were both NE-10 All-Rookie Team selections under his watch.

Stonehill posted its best season in nearly 20 years in Goodwin's first year in 2013 as it finished with its first winning season since 1996 and earned a share of the Northeast-10 Conference regular season championship. The Skyhawks played in its first NE-10 Championship game and the Skyhawks defense led the league in takeaways (30) and fumble recoveries (14) – a total which ranked 14th nationally in Division II. Stonehill’s defense also ranked second in the NE-10 for scoring defense (24.3 ppg), passing defense (246.8 yds/gm) and red zone defense (65.9%), while ranking fourth in sacks (21). The Skyhawks ranked in the top 15 nationally for red zone defense at 14th as it allowed 27 scores on 41 opponent trips inside the 20 yard line, with 24 touchdowns and three field goals.

Goodwin joined Stonehill after completing two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater, Springfield College. He coached the Pride's outside linebackers as well as the long and short snappers while also serving as defensive coordinator for the junior varsity team. Goodwin assisted in weekly defensive and special teams game planning and scouting reports, while also planning and carrying out individual practice times, communicating play tendencies and personel and scripting plays for inside and perimeter players during games. He recruited in the areas of Nassau County on Long Island and Eastern Massachusetts. Springfield won the 2012 ECAC Northeast Championship in 2012 and he coached a second team All-Liberty League linebacker.

In addition to his coaching background, Goodwin has completed internships within the athletic departments at Chicopee Comprehensive High School and Foxboro High School as well as the sports communications office at Springfield College.

Goodwin is a 2010 graduate of Springfield, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation management with a minor in business management. He was a four year starter at linebacker for the Pride, helping lead the team to 2006 Empire 8 Conference Championship as well as the 2009 ECAC Northeast and 2010 ECAC North Atlantic Bowl Championships. Goodwin was a two-time All-Empire 8 first team selection, earning All-New England honors from the New England Football Writers and ECAC North All-Star accolades. He was also named the Defensive MVP for his team in 2009 and 2010.

Goodwin, a native of Foxboro, Massachusetts, earned his Master's of Physical Education Degree from Springfield in 2013 with a concentration in athletic administration.
