The Game
Stonehill is back on the road for the second straight week leading into next weekend's league bye as it visits Pace University for a Northeast-10 Conference battle at Pace Stadium this afternoon. The Skyhawks have lost their last two following a 42-21 setback at Southern Connecticut State University last weekend, while the Setters aim to bounce back from a 49-21 loss to Assumption on Friday night.

300th game
This afternoon marks the 300th game in Stonehill's varsity era (1988-present). The Skyhawks have posted a 132-164-3 (.447) all-time record heading into he milestone matchup. Stonehill's first varsity game, after serving as a club program for 17 years, was a loss to MIT in 1988.

Coach to Cure MD
Stonehill head coach Eli Gardner and his entire coaching staff will join fellow college football coaches nationwide and wear patches in support of Coach To Cure MD during games this weekend. In it's 11th year, the annual effort has raised nearly $2 million to battle Duchenne muscular dystrophy (Duchenne). On the weekend of September 29, American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) members will once again wear the traditional Coach To Cure MD logo patch on the sidelines, and college football fans will be asked to donate to projects supported by Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), the largest, most comprehensive nonprofit organization in the U.S. focused entirely on Duchenne. Fans can help support the fight to end Duchenne by either going to CoachtoCureMD.org or by texting the word CURE to 50555 to make a $10 donation to help fund the fight to end Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Jamiel

He's Honored
Junior wide receiver Andrew Jamiel (Yarmouth, Mass.) earned a spot on the Northeast-10 Conference's weekly honor roll on Monday for his efforts in Saturday night's setback to Southern Connecticut State. He led the Skyhawks with eight receptions for a season-high 94 yards and a touchdown in the contest. Of junior Kyle Smith's (Wallingford, Conn.) 12 completions in his first career  start, eight of them were to Jamiel, who scored the opening touchdown of the contest in the first quarter with a 20-yard catch.

Homecoming Moment
Junior Kyle Smith (Wallingford, Conn.) made his first career start at quarterback for Stonehill at Southern Connecticut State, near his hometown. He threw a pair of touchdowns, including a 20-yard strike to classmate Andrew Jamiel (Yarmouth, Mass.) on the Skyhawks second possession for an early lead. Smith finished 12-for-30 for 184 yards and the two scores in his debut.

Felder

Run This Way
Freshman Justin Felder (Hollis, N.Y.) posted a season-high 18 carries for a team and season-best 98 yards in his second collegiate appearance at running back for Stonehill on Saturday night at Southern Connecticut State. He averaged 5.4 yards per carry, with a long of 36. Through two games, Felder has 123 yards on 24 attempts (5.1 yds/att).

Quite a Catch
Junior Andrew Jamiel (Yarmouth, Mass.) enters today's game with 196 career receptions, matching the program's career record set by Nate Robitaille, '15. Jamiel, who has two of the top three receiving seasons in program history, including a program-record matching 91 catches as a freshman - which fell just two shy of the NCAA II freshman record, has also posted the top three receiving games in program history. He caught a program-record 18 passes in wins over New Haven (2016) and Pace (2017). The latter of which he finished with a program-record 294 yards and five touchdowns.

Kearns, Jr.

End Zone Crew
Juniors Andrew Jamiel (Yarmouth, Mass.) and Brian Kearns, Jr. (North Arlington, N.J.) both scored touchdowns at Southern Connecticut State last weekend and moved up Stonehill scoring charts. Jamiel is now tied with Dan Cahill '96 for second all-time in program history with his 22 career touchdown receptions - just three shy of Nate Robitaille '15's career record of 25. Kearns, Jr. scored his 16th career rushing touchdown to move into a tie for third all-time with Rob Olivar '04 and Colin Markus '16 - eight shy of Eddie Vachon '11's career mark of 24 rushing touchdowns.

Cracking the Top Ten
Junior running back Brian Kearns, Jr. (North Arlington, N.J.) moved into tenth place on Stonehill's career rushing yardage list with 1,301 yards on 288 attempts in 22 career games played. He moved past Derek Mazza '04 for tenth all-time in Stonehill history and enters today's game 20 yards shy of Bob Powell '05 for ninth all-time and 62 yards behind Jeff Payne '09 for eighth place.

Aye, Aye Captains
Seniors Mike Cordova (Oceanport, N.J.), John Ejiofor (Burlington Township, N.J.), Vandy Hall (Ewing, N.J.) and James Lam (Quincy, Mass.) have been elected captains by their teammates and the coaching staff for the 2018 season. It marks the first time Stonehill has had four captains since 2016 and the second-straight year it has had a two-year captain with Ejiofor returning as a captain for the second-straight season.

On Deck
Stonehill will have next weekend off for the league-wide bye week, before returning to W.B. Mason Stadium on Saturday, October 13, to host Merrimack College for an NE10 matchup at 6 p.m. Three of the Skyhawks last five games will be at home.
