EASTON, Mass. (November 6, 2015) – Stonehill College senior safety Anthony Masucci (East Haven, Connecticut/Notre Dame-West Haven) has earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District™ first team for Super Region 1 as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members in the region. Masucci is now eligible for Academic All-America® honors, selected by CoSIDA's Academic All-America® committee, to be announced on Wednesday, December 2.

Masucci, who has earned a 3.59 cumulative grade point average as a finance major and economics minor at Stonehill, earns Academic All-District™ first team honors for the second straight year. He is just the third Stonehill football student-athlete to earn Academic All-District™ honors twice and joins Kevin Bonnett '09 as only two-time first team selections in program history. Masucci was a semifinalist for the 2015 National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame William V. Campbell Trophy and Scholar Athlete Awards and was also selected to the Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference football team as a junior. He has earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status all six semesters to date.

Masucci, a co-captain this fall, has started all nine games for a defense which ranks in the top ten nationally (10th this season) for the second straight year, ranking second in the NE-10 for total defense (279.1 yards allowed per game), leading the Conference (12th nationally) for passing defense (149.2 yds/gm) and ranking fourth for rush defense (129.9 yds/gm) and scoring defense (20.9 ppg). He ranks fourth on the team with 51 tackles, including 26 solo (2nd team), with 4.0 tackles for a loss of 15 yards, an interception and three pass breakups. Masucci posted a season-high 11 tackles (seven solo) at the University of New Haven on October 17.

Masucci, who has started 30 of his 40 career games played, including 20 straight, enters Saturday's game nine tackles shy of 200 for his career. He has 191 stops, including 98 solo, with 10.0 tackles for a loss of 54 yards, 0.5 sacks for a loss of three, two forced fumbles, five interceptions and nine breakups over his four year career. Masucci posted a career-high 14 tackles (career-best eight solo) and a forced fumble in his first career start at No. 16 Bloomsburg University in 2013.

Stonehill (6-3, 5-3 NE-10) closes out the regular season tomorrow afternoon at NE-10 leaders Assumption College at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks are still alive for a spot in next week's NE-10 Championship game, but need a win, and then have New Haven lose at Saint Anselm College, Merrimack College defeat Southern Connecticut State University and LIU Post lose at Bentley University to create a three-way tie with New Haven and Merrimack for second place, placing the tiebreaker on the Skyhawks win over Assumption.
