Skyhawk seniors among 817 student-athletes recognized across all divisions of college football
EASTON, Mass. (June 29, 2015) – Two members of the Stonehill College football program's recent graduating class have been named members of the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society for having maintained a 3.20 cumulative grade point average or higher throughout their college career.
Seniors Brian Harrington (Rockland, Massachusetts/Rockland) and Tom Linden (Durham, Connecticut/Xavier) are among 817 student-athletes from a record 278 football programs across all divisions of college football who have qualified for membership in the society's ninth year. Qualification for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society include being a starter or significant contributor in one's last season of eligibility, achieving a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and meeting all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.

Harrington, who was a National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete candidate and William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist, graduated last month with a 3.32 cumulative grade point average as a criminology major at Stonehill. He received the Fr. John McCarthy, CSC, Leadership Award at the College's annual Senior Student-Athlete Dinner, earned Capital One Academic All-District I honors last fall, been named to the Northeast-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll all eight semesters and earned Athletic Director's Honor Roll status seven semesters.
Harrington, a Don Hansen second team All-American in 2013, was a finalist for the inaugural Cliff Harris Award as a junior when he also collected the Joseph P. Zabilski Defensive Player of the Year Award from the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston. He is a two-time Daktronics All-Super Region 1 selection, earning second team honors as a senior, and two-time All-Northeast-10 Conference first team performer, collecting NE-10 Defensive Player of the Year honors as a junior from D2Football.com.
Harrington finished his four-year career ranked fifth in program history with 281 tackles (122 solo) in 42 career games played. Just the second player in program history with 100-plus tackles in two seasons, he also posted 14.0 tackles for loss, with 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, two interceptions and two pass breakups over his career. Harrington recorded a team-high 105 tackles (3rd NE-10) during his senior season, with 35 solo, including 7.0 for a loss of 30 yards, 3.0 sacks for a loss of 20 yards, two interceptions, three quarterback hurries and a pass breakup in 11 games. Harrington's tackles are the fifth-highest single-season total after his program and NE-10 record 151 stops in 2013.

Linden recently graduated with a 3.26 cumulative grade point average as an accounting major at Stonehill, with minors in economics and Chinese. He has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll six semesters and Athletic Director's Honor Roll four semesters at the College. Linden earned All-Northast-10 first team honors as a junior when he was the leader of a Stonehill offensive line that ranked eighth in the NE-10 in total offense (353.5 yds/gm) and sixth for passing offense (233.7 yds/gm) and scoring (29.2 ppg). The Skyhawks also ranked second in the Conference and 22nd nationally in Division II for red zone offense (86%). Linden missed the entire 2014 season with a career-ending injury, but maintained a presence with the team throughout the year.
Linden played 23 games over his Stonehill career and was named to the NE-10 All-Championship team following the program's first title game appearance in program history in 2013. He started 21 of his 23 career games played on the Skyhawks offensive line.
Stonehill, which posted a 5-6 overall record in 2014, including a 4-5 mark in the Northeast-10, opens its 2015 season with a non-conference matchup at Bloomsburg (Pa.) University, an NCAA Tournament participant last season, on Saturday, September 5, at 2 p.m. The Skyhawks home opener is two weeks later when it hosts Pace University for an NE-10 matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium as part of Stonehill Kickoff Weekend and Presidents' Cup Celebration on Saturday, September 19, at 6 p.m.
