CPTV Sports to Broadcast Saturday’s Matchup at New Haven

Skyhawks and Chargers game to be televised for second-straight year

EASTON, Mass. (October 15, 2013) – One year removed from their thrilling nationally televised game on CBS Sports Network, this weekend's Northeast-10 Conference football matchup between Stonehill College and the University of New Haven at Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium (1 p.m.) will be broadcast live throughout the State of Connecticut by CPTV Sports.

Last year's 45-41 come-from-behind victory by then No. 3-ranked New Haven was dubbed the NE-10's Game of the Year by D2Football.com and this year's clash features two teams among teams receiving votes in this week's American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II poll and with first place in the Conference standings on the line. Stonehill fans, alumni and family members will be able to watch on cable providers and digital channels stretching from Fairfield County to towns as far north as Worcester, Mass.

CPTV Sports (formerly the Connecticut Sports Network) is a not-for-profit channel owned and managed by Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) that broadcasts sporting events and matchups including the state's high schools, state colleges, the WNBA's Connecticut Sun, the Eastern League's New Britain Rock Cats, the Connecticut Soccer League and many other sports including bowling, roller derby and equestrian.

Stonehill's roster features 20 players from Connecticut, including six starters. Sophomore defensive back Anthony Masucci (East Haven, Conn./Notre Dame) is third on the team with 41 tackles (21 solo), including 0.5 for a loss, two interceptions, a pass breakup and two forced fumbles.

Stonehill, under the direction of head coach Robert Talley in his seventh season, and New Haven are separated by just one loss in the NE-10 standings after six weeks. New Haven, the defending Conference champions, is 5-1 overall and 5-0 in NE-10 play after a 48-41 shootout victory at Merrimack College on Saturday. The Skyhawks are tied for second in the NE-10 with American International College with a 4-2 record overall, 4-1 in Conference play, after a 23-21 comeback win across town from New Haven at Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday. The winner of Saturday's game would have a big leg up towards a spot in the upcoming NE-10 Championship Game on Saturday, November 16.
