NEW HAVEN, Conn.-- Freshman quarterback Steve Armstrong (Nutley, N.J.) completed 15-of-20 passes for 277 yards and four touchdowns, including three to senior Jim Lukowiak (Brick, N.J.), to lead Southern Connecticut to a 52-0 Northeast-10 Conference football victory over Stonehill Saturday afternoon at Jess Dow Field.

The host Owls (6-2, 5-2 Northeast-10) amassed 637 yards of total offense on the afternoon, including 356 rushing yards on 46 attempts, as Southern Connecticut received an 82-yard touchdown run from senior Rory Palmer (San Diego, Calif.) on its first play from scrimmage and Armstrong connected with senior Jonathan Lee Hugh (Nanuet, N.Y.) on a nine-yard scoring pass for a 14-0 Owl lead after one. Lukowiak hauled in touchdown passes of 28, 67 and 6 yards that sandwiched Palmers second scoring run of the day (from four yards out) in the second stanza to stake the hosts to a 42-0 advantage at the break, and freshman Darwin Noels (West Orange, N.J.) 40-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter extended Southern Connecticuts lead to 49-0. Freshman Ed Arias (Norwalk, Conn.) closed out the scoring with just over three minutes remaining for the Owls by booting a 23-yard field goal.

Lukowiak hauled in six receptions for 174 yards to go with his three scores for the winners, who also received 114 rushing yards on eight carries from Palmer. Freshman Cruz Parsons (Signal Hill, Calif.) completed 7-of-18 attempts for 83 yards in the setback for the visiting Skyhawks (3-5, 3-4 Northeast-10), as senior Mike Plichta (Milford, Mass.) hauled in five receptions for 58 yards. Sophomore Mike DeBye (Burlington, Mass.) paced Stonehill defensively with 12 total tackles, including seven solo stops.

Stonehill hosts American International in a Northeast-10 outing next Saturday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium beginning at Noon, while Southern Connecticut travels to Manchester, N.H. next Saturday afternoon to take on Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 contest that also kicks-off at Noon.
