BROOKVILLE, N.Y.-- Freshman Anthony Lazarus (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) rushed for 145 yards and four touchdowns to lead LIU-C.W. Post to a 56-7 Northeast-10 Conference football victory over Stonehill Saturday afternoon at Hickox Field.

The host Pioneers (2-1, 2-0 Northeast-10) jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead on a pair of Lazarus scoring runs of eight and six yards that were sandwiched around a 14-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Rob Blount (Inwood, N.Y.) to fellow senior Ryan Heller (Farmingdale, N.Y.). LIU-C.W. Post added three more rushing scores in the second stanza by Lazarus, senior Adebayo Adedapo (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and junior Matt Albanese (East Meadow, N.Y.) to take a 42-0 advantage at the break, and Lazarus closed out his efforts on the day with a 36-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter to extended the Pioneer edge to 49-0.

Senior Mike Plichta (Milford, Mass.) accounted for the lone score of the day for the visiting Skyhawks (2-1, 2-1 Northeast-10) when he hauled in a 19-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Jon Kaloyanides (Cranston, R.I.) with 2:40 remaining in the third stanza, Plichta’s third touchdown reception in as many games. Freshman Josh Amaro (Farmingdale, N.Y.) closed out the LIU-C.W. Post scoring on the afternoon when he scampered in from two yards out with 1:04 remaining in the contest.

Lazarus and Amaro combined for 228 of LIU-C.W. Post’s 323 rushing yards for the afternoon, as the Pioneers amassed 551 yards of total offense as compared to 112 yards for Stonehill. Blount and freshman Nick Georgetti (Holbrook, N.Y.) combined to complete 22-of-30 passes for 228 yards for the hosts, as junior Jo-el Kimaiyo (Cambridge, Mass.) hailed in six receptions for 82 yards on the day.

Junior Cliff Mason II (Santa Ana, Calif.) amassed 63 total yards in the setback for the Skyhawks, including 48 receiving yards, as Stonehill was held to 32 rushing yards for the contest. Kaloyanides and sophomore Greg Borsari (Kingston, Mass.) combined for 65 passing yards for the visitors as well on the afternoon, while junior Vincent Delaney (Baltimore, Md.) paced Stonehill defensively with 11 total tackles (seven solo) and an interception that he returned for 25 yards.

Stonehill hosts Iona in a non-league match-up next Saturday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium beginning at 2:00 p.m., while LIU-C.W. Post travels to Manchester, N.H. next Saturday to take on Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 outing that begins at 1:00 p.m.
