EASTON, Mass.-- Freshman quarterback John White (Kingston, Mass.) threw for 293 yards and four touchdowns to lead Bentley to a 34-7 Northeast-10 Conference football victory over Stonehill Saturday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium.

White gave the visiting Falcons (6-2, 6-1 Northeast-10) a 7-0 first quarter lead when he hooked up with senior Kristopher Lake (Dudley, Mass.) on a 32-yard scoring pass, but the host Skyhawks (3-4, 3-3 Northeast-10) evened matters midway through the second stanza when White was stripped of the ball by Stonehill junior Chris Allen (Norwood, Mass.) and the fumble was recovered by Skyhawk sophomore Chris Regan (Hanson, Mass.) who returned it 76 yards for the tying score. White gave Bentley the lead back on the next possession, however, when he hooked up with Lake on a 67-yard touchdown pass and a 14-7 Falcon advantage.

Stonehill then forced a Bentley punt at midfield with three minutes to play in the half, and a botched snap forced Falcon junior Derrick Marsan (Methuen, Mass.) into a scramble that ended up being a 50-yard gain down to the Skyhawk 1-yard line, and sophomore J.J. Sullivan (Tyngsboro, Mass.) scored on a one-yard plunge to five the visitors a 21-7 edge. White found sophomore Jon Kaczka (Danbury, Conn.) on a six-yard scoring strike with just eight seconds remaining in the half for a 27-7 Bentley cushion at the, and he completed the scoring with just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter on a nine-yard touchdown pass to junior Kyle Goodwin (Gloucester, Mass.).

Sullivan finished with 108 yards on 20 carries on the afternoon for Bentley, as the Falcons amassed 542 yards of total offense while holding Stonehill to just eight total yards of offense for the afternoon. White completed 19-of-27 passes for the visitors, while Lake hauled in seven catches for 164 yards to go with his two scores. Bentley recorded five sacks and held the Skyhawks to –14 rushing yards on the day while holding the ball for over two-thirds (40:57) of the contest.

Freshman George Whetstone (Westwood, Mass.) amassed a career-high 11 total tackles, including five solo stops, while recording a sack and a pass break-up to lead the way defensively in his first collegiate start for Stonehill, which also received nine tackles from sophomore J.J. Niamkey (Quincy, Mass.) and junior Vincent Delaney’s (Baltimore, Md.) fourth interception of the season.

Stonehill travels to New Haven, Conn. next Saturday afternoon to take on Southern Connecticut in a Northeast-10 outing that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Bentley hosts Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 contest next Saturday afternoon in Waltham, Mass. at 2:00 p.m.
