Four Qualify for Regionals At Babson Show

Skyhawks remain second in the region and will resume competition in March

WELLESLEY, Massachusetts (November 18, 2019) – The Stonehill College equestrian team competed at the Babson College show at the Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Massachusetts and finished fifth overall. The Skyhawks remain second in the region following their final show of the fall season.

  • Four Skyhawks qualified for Regionals following their performance at the show on Sunday, including Emma McConville, Kaitlin Kotfila, Laura Solar, and Madison Roberts. McConville also earned her second high point rider performance of the season and fourth of her career.
  • McConville posted two first place ribbons in open fences and open flat for her 18th-career blue ribbon performance and sixth of the season. She qualified for open fences and open flat and this is her third year qualifying for Regionals.
  • Kotfila also qualified for her third Regionals appearance, as she placed second in open fences and fourth in open flat. She will be showing in open flat at Regionals and her sophomore year she showed in intermediate flat and last year she competed in intermediate fences.
  • Solar qualified for Regionals in both intermediate flat and limit fences, as she finished second in intermediate flat and fourth in limit fences. This will be her second appearance at Regionals as she qualified for novice flat last year.
  • Roberts qualified for Regionals in limit flat which will make it her first appearance. The junior earned her 10th first-place ribbon of her career and fourth of the season as she showed in limit flat.
  • Kylie Katz and Catherine Souza both competed in intermediate fences as Katz placed third and Souza finished second.
  • Stonehill saw two other fourth place ribbons besides Solar's including Hannon Lennon who competed in novice and Aylin Torres who showed in intermediate.
  • Mariah Hanson earned a fifth-place ribbon in intermediate flat this weekend.

Stonehill will return to action come spring when they open the season with a show on Saturday, Mart 14 at the Autumn Sky Farm in Georgetown, Massachusetts, hosted by Endicott College.
