Equestrian Rides To Second High Point Performance

Kimbar qualifies for regionals on in Sunday show

EASTON, Mass. (November 13, 2017) – Stonehill College Equestrian took home its second high point performance at the Boston/Wellesley College Show on Sunday, while they finished ninth at the Mount Ida College Show on Saturday.

Equestrian took home ninth at the Mount Ida College Show on Saturday at Herringbrook Farm in North Pembroke, Massachusetts.

Rachel Scibek (Colchester, Vermont/Colchester) finished with the best performance of the day, placing second in novice fences. Emma McConville (North Attleboro, Massachusetts/Wheeler School) followed with a third-place result in open fences, while she also took home fifth in open flat. Kaitlin Kotfila (Hadley, Massachusetts/Hopkins Academy) also took home a yellow ribbon in intermediate fences and a fifth place mark in intermediate flat. Senior Abigail Westerlind (Auburn, Massachusetts/Auburn) collected the third yellow ribbon of the day with her mark in novice flat.

There were also three fourth-place ribbons at the event for the Skyhawks, as Emma Gagnon (Cumberland, Rhode Island/Saint Mary Academy) competed in walk, trot, Madison Roberts (East Hampton, Connecticut/East Hampton) placed in walk, trot, canter, and Laura Solar (Melville, New York/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) finished in novice flat.  Solar also finished sixth in novice fences.

Boston/Wellesley College Show

The Skyhawks took home their second high point ride this season with 38 total points at the Boston/Wellesley College Show at Hillside Meadows Equestrian Center in Grafton, Massachusetts.

Kotfila was Stonehill's high-point rider of the day in intermediate flat, she also took home a red ribbon in intermediate fences. Senior Baylee Kimbar (Worcester, Massachusetts/West Boylston) also highlighted the Skyhawks' high-point performance, as she qualified for regionals in intermediate flat with a yellow ribbon. Roberts took home her third blue ribbon this season in walk, trot, canter at the show, while Solar collected her second first-place mark in novice flat.

Westerlind and Scibek each placed second in novice flat and novice fences, respectively. Gagnon earned a yellow ribbon in walk, trot division. Stonehill once again totaled three fourth-place ribbons at the show with Solar earning it in novice fences, Mariah Hanson (South Burlington, Vermont/South Burlington) competing in intermediate fences, and McConville in open flat.

Stonehill will ride in its final show of the semester as it travels back to Holliston, Massachusetts to compete in the Tufts University and Wheaton College show at August Farm on Sunday, November 19.
