EASTON, Mass. (March 31, 2017) – Five members of the Stonehill College equestrian program have qualified for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1, Region 4 Championships on Saturday to be hosted by Boston University at Holly Hill Show Stables in Hanover, Massachusetts.

Seniors Kayla McNulty (Tyngsboro, Massachusetts/Academy of Notre Dame) and Nina Fultz (Littleton, Massachusetts/Littleton) will be making the second appearances of their careers at the Region 4 Championships, while classmates Micaela Caulkins (Old Lyme, Connecticut/Old Lyme), Kristin Buckley (Leominster, Massachusetts/Saint Bernard's) and Taylor Uccello (Westford, Massachusetts/Westford Academy) have qualified for the first time in their careers.

McNulty will compete in walk-trot-canter equitation after qualifying in walk-trot as a junior, when she placed third at the regional championships. She has earned four blue ribbons for first place performances during the 2016-17 season in walk-trot-canter to aid her qualification to the regional championships. She turned in first place performances at Stonehill's first three shows, including the Skyhawks home show on October 16, as well as Brandeis University and Boston College, as well as Bridgewater State University this spring. McNulty also collected a second place finish at the Tufts University/Wheaton College and a third place show at Mount Ida College back in the fall.

Fultz has qualified in novice equitation over fences after placing fifth at the 2015 regional championships in walk-trot-canter equitation. She has earned three blue ribbons for novice fences this season, including Stonehill's home show on October 16. Fultz also posted first place shows for the event at Mount Ida in the fall and Bridgewater State this spring. She was also second at Brandeis, third at Tufts/Wheaton and fourth at Boston College.

Buckley, one of Stonehill's two captains this season, is making her first regional championships appearance after qualifying in walk-trot-canter. She earned a blue ribbon in walk-trot-canter at the Tufts/Wheaton show on November 6 after placing second at Brandeis to go with a pair of fourth place shows at Stonehill and Boston College.

Caulkins will compete on Saturday in intermediate equitation over fences. She earned a blue ribbon for intermediate fences at the Tufts/Wheaton show after placing second at Boston College last fall. Caulkins competed in open fences at Bridgewater State University on March 12 and placed third.

Uccello will ride in novice equitation on the flat on Saturday after qualifying with a third place show at Mount Ida College last fall.

Stonehill finished the regular season fourth in the region as a team following its second place team finish at last weekend's Worcester State University show at Maplewood Farm in Berlin, Massachusetts. The top two ribbon winners from each of the events at Saturday's Region 4 Championships will advance to the IHSA Zone 1 Championships, hosted by Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, on Saturday, April 8, at 9 a.m.
