Equestrian Opens Spring Third at Bridgewater State

Fultz and McNulty among five blue ribbon winners for Skyhawks, qualify for regionals

PLYMPTON, Mass. (March 13, 2017) – The Stonehill College equestrian team opened its spring schedule with a third place finish at the Bridgewater State University Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1, Region 4 show, hosted by Reunion Farm on Sunday.

Seniors Nina Fultz (Littleton, Massachusetts/Littleton) and Kayla McNulty (Tyngsboro, Massachusetts/Academy of Notre Dame) led five blue ribbon finishers for Stonehill and also qualified for the IHSA Zone 1, Region 4, Championships on April 1. Fultz placed first in her novice equitation over fences class to earn her spot at regionals next month, while McNulty placed first in walk-trot-canter to point out for regionals.

Junior Baylee Kimbar (Worcester, Massachusetts/West Boylston) and freshman Emma McConville (North Attleboro, Massachusetts/Wheeler School) each earned blue ribbons in their intermediate fences classes. Freshman Mariah Hanson (South Burlington, Vermont/South Burlington) rounded out the Skyhawks first place riders with her performance in her novice fences class. Kimbar also placed third for intermediate flat.

Senior co-captain Serafine Torregiano (Saratoga Springs, New York/Saratoga Springs) led three second place finishers for Stonehill with her performance on open flat. Freshman Kaitlin Kotfila (Hadley, Massachusetts/Hopkins Academy) earned a red ribbon for intermediate flat, while junior Abigail Westerlind (Auburn, Massachusetts/Auburn) was second in novice flat.

Sophomore Jenna Payne (Wantage, New Jersey/Pope John XXIII) Novice Fences - Fifth 

Stonehill is off for two weeks before closing out its regular season shows at Worcester State University, hosted by Maplewood Farm, in Berlin, Massachusetts, at 9 a.m.
