Uccello qualifies for regionals, three Skyhawk riders earn blue ribbons at Mount Ida

NORTH PEMBROKE, Mass. (November 13, 2016) – The Stonehill College equestrian team turned in reserve high point rider honors for the second straight week when it wrapped up its fall schedule at the Mount Ida College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1, Region 4 show, hosted by Herring Brook Farm, on Saturday.

Stonehill totaled 34 points to finish behind only Northeastern University's 38 point total. The Skyhawks finish the fall season third in the IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 standings. Stonehill now has three riders qualified for the Region 4 Championships in the spring after senior Taylor Uccello (Westford, Massachusetts/Westford) pointed out with her third place finish in novice equitation on the flat.

Freshman Emma McConville (North Attleboro, Massachusetts/Wheeler School) was one of three blue ribbon performers for Stonehill at the show, taking first place in novice flat. Senior Nina Fultz (Littleton, Massachusetts/Littleton) and freshman Mariah Hanson (South Burlington, Vermont/South Burlington) collected blue ribbons for their novice fences class.

Senior Micaela Caulkins (Old Lyme, Connecticut/Old Lyme) was also among the list of seven Stonehill riders with third place finishes, with her yellow ribbon for open fences as well as intermediate flat. McConville also earned a third place finish for intermediate fences, while junior Baylee Kimbar (Worcester, Massachusetts/West Boylston) received a yellow ribbon for intermediate flat. Seniors Kayla McNulty (Tyngsboro, Massachusetts/Academy of Notre Dame) and Allison Calder (Mansfield, Massachusetts/Mansfield) rounded out the Skyhawks third place riders for walk-trot-canter and walk-trot, respectively. Kimbar also placed sixth for intermediate fences.

Stonehill will open its spring schedule on March 12 at Bridgewater State University's home show.
