Lorusso Places Fourth, Dolan Sixth on Day One of IHSA Nationals

Lorusso earns ribbon in open fences, Dolan on intermediate flat

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 3, 2012) – Stonehill College juniors Cassandra Lorusso (Wrentham, Mass./Dana Hall School) and Emily Dolan (Lacrosse, Wis./Aquinas) both earned ribbons as competition got underway on day one of the 2012 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships at Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, N.C., today.

Lorusso led the way for Stonehill with a fourth place finish in the individual open equitation over fences this morning with a score of 80 points. Senior Margeaux DeVirgilio (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) also competed this morning for individual novice fences, but did not place.

Dolan competed in the afternoon session and placed sixth for intermediate equitation on the flat to earn her ribbon.

Lorusso will start competition for the Cacchione Cup on Friday, starting with fences in the morning and then flat competition in the afternoon. The Cacchione Cup features the high point riders from each of the 37 regions across the IHSA's eight zones.
