Four from Baseball Earn NE10 All-Conference Honors

EASTON, Massachusetts (May 13, 2021) – After finishing fifth in the Northeast Division in the Conference, Stonehill College baseball saw four Skyhawks earn Northeast-10 Conference all-conference honors, as voted by the 14 head coaches and announced Wednesday.

Sophomore Conor Kiely led the honorees receiving All-Conference first team and All-Rookie Team honors, as he is the first first team selection for the program since 2015. Senior Michael White and junior Luke Marshall both earned NE10 All-Conference third team honors, while freshman Graham Herrick was voted to the NE10 All-Rookie Team along with Kiely.

Kiely led the team this year with a .400 batting average as he was in the leadoff spot. The sophomore also led the team in RBI, hits, runs scored, at bats, on-base and slugging percentage. He went 46-for-115 at the plate driving in 23 RBI, walking 14 times. He tallied for six doubles and two triples, crossing the plate 30 times. With his .496 on-base percentage and not being caught once, Kiely stole 18 bases, sitting second on the team. In the outfield, the sophomore totaled 34 putouts for the Skyhawks allowing just two errors.

Among the Conference, Kiely sits second in stolen bases (18) and hits (46), sixth in batting average (.400), runs scored (30) and on-base percentage (.496), and 17th in RBI (23). The sophomore attended Bishop Hendricken and graduated from Bridgton Academy. He helped the team to the Division 1 State Championship freshman year and was named to the All-State first team, All-Division first team, ABCA Rawlings Northeast All-Region Team, and Academic All-State team senior year.

White, earning his first recognition from the Conference, threw 39.0 innings this season with a record of 3-3 with one complete game. He allowed a career best 18 earned runs striking out 40 averaging 9.23 strikeouts per nine innings. The fifth-year senior walked a career-best eight batters giving up 28 hits, second in his career. The starting pitcher threw his first-career no-hitter against Pace University where he took the win and first-career complete game with a score of 1-0. White was the first pitcher since March 13, 2009 when Matt Giusti '09 struck out six batters in a 9-0 victory. In a 7-3 victory over Saint Anselm College, White also struck out a career-best 10 batters.

Across the Conference, White is seventh in innings pitched (39.0), 13th in strikeouts (40), 15th in ERA (4.15), 19th in strikeouts per nine innings (9.23), 23rd in earned runs (18), 30th in hits allowed (28). White attended Stamford High School, where he graduated from Canterbury School.

Marshall, also earning his first award from the Conference, was named NE10 Pitcher of the Week twice this season. The junior who tossed 43.1 innings this season went 2-2 over seven game starts and eight appearances. He allowed 21 earned runs and 17 walks, striking out 46 averaging 9.55 strikeouts per nine innings. In an 11-6 victory over Saint Anselm College, where Marshall threw 8.0 innings, the junior struck out a career best 10 batters.

Throughout the Conference, Marshall sits fourth in innings pitched (43.1), 8th in strikeouts (46), 13th in hits (38), 17th in strikeouts per nine innings (9.55), 18th in earned runs (21), 19th in ERA (4.36), and 21st in walks (17). The Swampscott High School graduate played baseball and was named to the Honor Roll all four years.

Herrick earned All-Rookie Team recognition after playing in 30 games for the Skyhawks and he was named NE10 Rookie of the Week in the first couple of weeks of the season. He went 28-for-105 at the plate driving in 19 RBI, for second on the team. He tallied six doubles, two homeruns and scored 21 runs, for third on the team. In the outfield, the freshman played right field totaling 45 putouts with just two errors, four assists, and one double play.

In the NE10, Herrick is ranked 27th in RBI (19), 28th in doubles (6) and runs scored (21), and 60th in batting average (.276). The Sheffield, Massachusetts native attended Monument Mountain Regional High School and graduated from Berkshire School, as he played baseball, basketball, and golf.

Stonehill wrapped up the season 17-15 overall and 12-12 in Conference play making its 17th NE10 Tournament appearance in program history and first since 2015.
