Kelleher went 3-for-5, recording three of the Skyhawks 10 hits


Sabo went 2-for-4, as one of three Skyhawks to tally more than one hit

RINDGE, New Hampshire (April 25, 2019) – The Stonehill College baseball team tallied 10 hits in a 12-2 loss against Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference play on Thursday afternoon on Pappas Field.  

The Skyhawks are now 16-24 overall and 7-13 in NE10 Conference play, while the Ravens improve to 20-16 and 13-7 in Conference play.

The Ravens pitching combination of Derek Duffy and Zack Brundage struck out 14 batters in the victory, with Duffy retiring 13 in the 6.0 innings pitched allowing seven hits.

Stonehill stranded two in the top of the first, as Harrison Sabo and Aidan Wilde singled to the right side with two outs. Franklin Pierce saw one of their own hits in the bottom of the frame and neither team was able to tally a hit in the second.

Franklin Pierce totaled eight runs between the third and fourth innings off of eight hits for an 8-0 advantage. Stonehill put two once again, this time in the third inning as they went down three-straight for the second time in the game.


Wilde was one of three Skyhawks to record more than one hit, swinging 2-for-4

The Skyhawks got out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the fifth with a fly out to left field, but the Ravens added two to their score from a Jethro Hurt two-run blast to left field for a 10-0 lead. Franklin Pierce saw James Boria send out a long ball for another two-run homerun extending their lead to 12, 12-0.

Stonehill's two runs came in the top of the ninth as William Kelleher singled to left center and Thomas Quinn advanced to third and then scored on a fielding error cutting the deficit to 11, 12-1. With two outs and the bases loaded, the Skyhawks walked in a run but the Ravens halted the come back with a fly out to end the game, as Franklin Pierce swept the Skyhawks of the three-game series.

Stonehill looks to bounce back as they travel to Colchester, Vermont for a single game on Saturday, April 27 with a start time of 2:00 p.m. and a doubleheader on Sunday, April 28 with a start time of noon.
