Sabo continues his seven game hit streak swinging 2-for-4 at the plate

PALM BEACH, Florida (March 8, 2019) – The Stonehill College baseball team, who is ranked No. 7 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II East Region Poll was edged by Queens (N.Y.) College Friday afternoon 5-4, after fighting back from a 3-0 deficit early in the game.
For Stonehill (7-6), Harrison Sabo went 2-for-4 with two RBI and his first triple of the season. Matthew Rocco swung 2-for-5 with one run scored and his 19th double of his career, while Rob Duarte went 1-for-4 with one run scored, one RBI, and his second homerun of the season. Senior pitcher Michael Young threw 7.0 innings striking out a career best 10 batters.
Queens (4-4-1) saw Louis Antos go 3-for-4 with one run across, one RBI, and two doubles, as Jon Strauss was the only other Knight to tally multiple hits, swinging 2-for-5 with two runs scored, one RBI and two triples. Matt Gutleber registered two RBI, going 1-for-5 with one run scored.
The Knights opened the game with one run as Gutleber grounded out, driving in Strauss who kicked off the game with a triple to center field, 1-0. Rocco doubled for Stonehill's first hit of the game in the bottom of the frame, as Young silenced the Knights in the top of the second striking out to and retiring the side with a fly out.

In the third inning, Queens tallied three hits, adding two runs to their score, 3-0. Strauss saw his second triple of the game bringing home Jayson Rodopoulos and Gutleber registered another RBI on his second ground out of the game. Stonehill was able to even the score with runners on second and third, as Sabo launched a ball deep to center field for a triple scoring two and Duarte reached on an error after Aidan Wilde scores from third, 3-3.
Queens scored one run in each of the fifth and seven innings, while Stonehill aimed to fight back, but was only able to squeeze out one run in the bottom of the sixth with Duarte's homerun for a one-run deficit, 5-4.
In both the eighth and ninth innings, Stonehill threatened stranding one runner in each frame in scoring position, but the Knights were able to pull off its second win over the Skyhawks this week.
The Skyhawks will battle Caldwell University, who is opening their spring break, for a doubleheader at the Santaluces Complex in Palm Beach, Florida with a first pitch slated for 10 a.m.
