Stonehill will see six seniors graduate this year

For the Skyhawks, John Orzechowski (Monroe, Connecticut/Masuk) went 3-for-4 with one run scored, a triple and two stolen bases, while Monte and Harrison Sabo (Wilton, Connecticut/Wilton) tallied the RBI for the Skyhawks. Monte batted 1-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base, as Sabo went 1-for-4 at the plate. On the mound, Roberts threw his fifth complete game of his career, struck out six and gave up 10 hits.

Roberts was effective in the first four innings as he struck out four batters and left two batters on base in the first and third innings, while also giving up only three hits.

Stonehill jumped on board to support the senior, scoring two runs in the bottom of the third inning, as Orzechowski led off with a single to center field. He stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch, giving Monte a chance to drive in the freshman from third with a single to left field. Monte also stole second and advanced to third on a ground out by Bowler for the first out of the inning. Sabo drove the ball to the opposite field bringing in Monte from third, for an early 2-0 lead.

Bentley got a run back in the top of the fifth, as Austin Farry singled to left center for the first at bat of the inning and Christopher Butler followed with his own single putting Falcons on first and second with no outs. Gino Fordiani was out at first on a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher, moving both runners over to scoring position. A long fly ball by Justin Ashworth scored Farry from third, cutting the deficit to one, 2-1.

The Skyhawks fell in the bottom of the frame with three batters being retired by the Falcons' Bill Sullivan. Bentley challenged Stonehill in the top of the sixth as Ryan Berardino singled to right center with one out and Max Troiani doubled over the right fielder's head. Peter Bocchino reached on a throwing error by the second basemen and Berardino took advantage of the opportunity to tie the game at two, 2-2.

Sullivan retired the Skyhawks again in the bottom of the sixth with a strikeout and two ground outs. Bentley took its first lead of the game in the top of the seventh with a lead-off double down the left field line by Fordiani. With one out, Figueira singled down the left field line and advanced on the throw to second base, driving in Fordiani from second taking its first lead of the game, 3-2. Stonehill got the second out of the inning, but Berardino rallied singling through the left side bringing in Figueira from  third for a two-run advantage, 4-2.

The Skyhawks left runners on in each of the last three innings, including leaving two runners on in the bottom of the ninth. Alexander Joyce (Newton, Massachusetts/Newton North) reached first on a passed ball and with two outs, Orzechowski singled to center field putting runners on first and second. Sullivan shut down the Skyhawks with his ninth strikeout of the game, to earn his sixth win of the season.
