White becomes a consensus All-Region pick with his selection to the ABCA squad

Sophomore second baseman Dan Fratus was also named to the NE-10 second team earlier this year.

EASTON, Mass. (May 28, 2012) – Two members of the Stonehill College baseball team have been named to the American Baseball Coaches' Association (ABCA) All-East Region second team by the region's ABCA members. Sophomore second baseman Dan Fratus (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) has earned his first-career selection to the ABCA All-East Region team while senior utility player Michael White (Lisbon, N.H./Lisbon Regional) garners his second-career honor.

White, who was named to the Daktronics All-East Region first team and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-East Region first team earlier this season, now becomes a consensus All-Region selection with his nod to the ABCA All-East Region squad. White is the first consensus All-Region player for Stonehill since Angelo Bruno (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) earned similar honors in 2010 during his junior season.

The Skyhawks finished the 2012 season with a 30-19 record overall, 18-11 mark in the Northeast-10 (NE-10) Conference and a 13-8 showing in Northeast Divisional play. Stonehill posted a 7-3 record overall in its last ten regular season contests to earn its third-straight trip to the NE-10 Tournament. The Skyhawks fell to Franklin Pierce University, 6-0, in the opening round on the road.

Fratus earns his first-career All-Region honor after starting in all 49 games of the season at second base. The sophomore compiled a .353/.428/.533 (AVG/OBP/SLG) slash line, scored 35 runs, notched nine doubles, nine triples, two home runs, 32 runs batted in, walked 21 times, went 8-for-16 in stolen base attempts and posted a .963 fielding percentage in 219 chances (83 putouts, 128 assists, eight errors). As of Tuesday, May 22, Fratus ranks tied for first overall in all of NCAA Division II baseball in triples and tied for second overall in triples per game (.18).

Fratus hit .333 (13-for-39) against left-handed pitching, .375 (39-for-104) with runners on-base, .364 (24-for-66) with runners in scoring position, .339 (21-for-62) with two outs and knocked in a team-leading 16 two-out RBI's. Fratus finished second on the team in multi-hit games with 20 and tied for first in multi-RBI games with 11 total. Fratus posted the second longest hitting streak on the squad of 18 games spanning from March 12 to April 3. Fratus compiled 30 hits, scored 16 runs and notched 14 RBI's during that stretch to go along with eight extra-base hits (four doubles, three triples, one homer) to raise his batting average from .161 to .364.

Fratus reached base safely in 43-out-of-49 games on the season via a hit, walk or hit-by-pitch and was the only member of the team to collect five hits in one game. On April 28, Fratus went 5-for-7 with one run scored, one run batted in and two doubles in a 7-6 win over the Saint Anselm College Hawks in 13 innings. In NE-10 play, Fratus hit .392 (47-for-120) with 26 runs, seven doubles, six triples, one homer and 23 RBI's. He also posted a .443 on-base percentage and a .575 slugging percentage, both team-leading marks.

White played in all 49 games for the Skyhawks in the 2012 season making 31 starts at first base, nine at designated hitter, seven in left field, two in centerfield and nine starts as a pitcher (ten appearances).

White compiled a .307 batting average (62-for-202) with 42 runs scored, 13 doubles, three triples, three homers, 31 runs batted in, a .353 on-base percentage, a .436 slugging percentage, went 11-for-13 in stolen base attempts and posted a .978 fielding percentage in 370 chances (327 putouts, 35 assists and eighth errors).

White wraps up his senior season as a consensus All-Region selection.

White reached base safely in 38 out of his 49 games played via a hit, walk or a hit-by-pitch. White also put together the longest hitting streak on the team ranging 19-straight games from March 16 to April 15 where he collected 33 hits total and 18 RBI's. White collected the most multi-hit games on the team with 22 total compiling 17 two-hit contests and five three-hit games. White ranked second on the club in multi-RBI games recording seven total. He had three two-RBI games and a pair of three and four multi-RBI contests, respectively.

On the mound, White posted a 4-2 record overall to go along with a 2.03 earned run average (ERA), two shutouts, one combined shutout and one save in 62 innings pitched. He struck out 46 batters and held opponents to a .229 batting average in 236 at-bats. White currently ranks in the top-15 in the NE-10 in complete games (three) and shutouts. White average 6.68 strikeouts per game and recorded a 3.3 strikeouts-to-walks ratio. In his last 19-and-one-thirds innings pitched to close out his senior season, White did not allow a run dating back to April 15 against Southern New Hampshire University. He also struck out five or more batters in four appearances including a season-high 11 strikeouts versus Post University on February 25 in a 4-3 win.

White's career totals include a .313 batting average (167-for-533), 89 runs scored, 27 doubles, five triples, seven homers, 77 RBI's and 48 stolen bases (.873 percent). As a pitcher, White went 13-8 overall with a 2.62 ERA in 35 appearances (28 starts), notched seven complete games, three shutouts, two combined shutouts, two saves and 156 strikeouts  in 202.1 innings pitched. White played in 116-straight games to cap his four-year career for the Skyhawks as the consecutive games streak started on April 20, 2010 against Franklin Pierce University. White most recently won the Fr. William Gartland, CSC, Award – Top-Male Student-Athlete at Stonehill – and earned NE-10 All-Conference first team honors in baseball as a utility player this spring. White has also been selected to numerous NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Rolls in both his fall and spring sports, respectively.
