White named to NE-10 All-Conference First Team, Fratus earns Second Team honors, Karalis chosen to the Third Team and Duff selected to the All-Rookie Team

EASTON, Mass. (May 9, 2012) – Four members of the Stonehill College baseball team, ranked sixth overall in the latest NCBWA East Regional Poll, have earned postseason honors from the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) as selected by the league's 16 head coaches.

Senior utility player Michael White (Lisbon, N.H./Lisbon Regional) has earned All-NE-10 First Team honors, his second-career first team selection and third overall as he was named to the third team in 2010. Sophomore second baseman Dan Fratus (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) was selected to the second team and All-Rookie team while sophomore outfielder Billy Karalis (Pawtucket, R.I./Bishop Feehan) has been named to the All-NE-10 Third Team. Freshman relief pitcher Jim Duff (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) joins Fratus on the NE-10 All-Rookie Team.

White, a NCBWA Preseason All-American second team and NCBWA Preseason All-East Region first team selection earlier this spring, ranks in the top-10 among several categories in the NE-10 as the left-handed pitcher and utility player is third in shutouts (two), eighth in complete games (three), ninth in runs (42) and tenth overall in doubles (13). He also ranks 13^th overall in hits (62) and putouts (326).

On the season, White is hitting .313/.359/.444 (AVG/OBP/SLG) with two triples, three homers and 31 runs batted in – a career high in that category. White is 11-for-13 in stolen bases attempts and has compiled a .981 fielding percentage in 368 chances (326 putouts, 35 assists and seven errors. White has started 31 games at first base, nine as a designated hitter, six in left field and two in centerfield.

White leads the team with 22 multi-hit games this season and has the longest hitting streak of the year at 19 games spanning from March 16 to April 15 where he collected 33 hits total and 18 RBI's.

White has also made nine appearances on the hill (eight starts) recording a team-best 2.03 earned run average in 62 innings pitched. White, who is 4-2 overall on the season, has also notched one save, struck out 46 batters and has held opponents to a .229 batting average. He is currently riding a 19.1 innings pitched scoreless streak dating back to April 15 against Southern New Hampshire where he pitched a scoreless sixth inning and also recorded one out in the seventh before being lifted from the contest. In his last two contests, White has pitched two-straight complete game shutouts.

Fratus earns his first-career NE-10 All-Conference honor at second base as he ranks in the top-15 in the NE-10 in seven categories. Fratus leads the conference and is currently in a four-way tie for the NCAA Division II lead in triples with nine this season. Fratus is also sixth in the NE-10 in total bases (97), eighth in batting average (.354), ninth in slugging percentage (.536), tenth in hits (64), 12^th in on-base percentage (.429) and 13^th in assists (124).

Fratus is second on the club with 20 multi-hit games and tied for first overall with Karalis in multi-RBI games (11). Fratus' 18-game hitting streak spanning from March 12 to April 3 is the second longest on the team this season. Fratus compiled 30 hits, scored 16 runs and notched 14 RBI's during that stretch to go along with eight extra-base hits (four doubles, three triples, one home run).

Overall, Fratus has scored 35 runs, notched nine doubles, launched two homers, knocked in 32 RBI's, is 8-for-16 in stolen base attempts and has compile a .963 fielding percentage in 214 chances (82 putouts, 124 assists, eight errors). Fratus is also batting .344 with two outs and has driven in a team-leading 16 two-out RBI's.

Karalis picks up his first-career postseason honor in the outfield after posting a .284 batting average, .383 on-base percentage and a .444 slugging percentage to go along with 33 runs scored, 12 doubles, four triples, three homers and a team-leading 35 runs batted in for the Skyhawks in 48 games played and started.

Karalis has earned one NE-10 Player of the Week award this season as he led Stonehill to a 4-1 week overall from March 28 to April 1 while posting a slash line of .368/.500/1.053 in five games played. The sophomore outfielder hit three homers, knocked in 11 runs, had two doubles, one triple and also scored seven times. Against Saint Michael's in a doubleheader on Sunday, April 1, Karalis had three homers, including a walk-off round-tripper in game two, and seven RBI's.

Karalis boasts a 1.000 fielding percentage in 98 chances (91 putouts, seven assists), ranks fifth in the NE-10 in triples, 15^th overall in doubles, 17^th overall in RBI's and has recorded 14 multi-hit contests.

Duff sports a 1.97 earned run average with a 3-1 record overall in 15 appearances, two starts, one complete game, two combined shutouts and two saves in his freshman campaign. Duff has struck out 41 batters and only walked six for a team-leading 6.8 strikeout-to-walk ratio this year. He has also held opponents to a .265 batting average.

From March 29 to April 9, Duff strung together a 10.2 innings pitched scoreless streak all out of the bullpen yielding just seven hits and one walk while striking out nine batters. Duff made his first-career start on April 25 against UMass Lowell and tossed a complete game effort, yielding ten hits, one run (unearned), no walks and a career-high seven strikeouts. His previous career-high was five strikeouts in a three inning relief appearance against Bentley University on March 21. Duff gave up just two and did not issue a walk in the contest. Duff also started his collegiate career with a 6.1 innings pitched scoreless streak from February 24 to March 15 allowing six hits, two walks and six punchouts.

Stonehill (30-18, 18-11 NE-10, 13-8 Northeast Division) will take on Franklin Pierce University (33-15-1, 20-7-1 NE-10, 14-6-1 Northeast Division) on Wednesday, May 9 in Rindge, N.H. at Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field in a single elimination NE-10 Tournament First Round matchup at 4 p.m.
