Easton, Mass. - Javier Guzman (San Juan, P.R.) continued his torrid pace at the plate, going 3-for-3 with 2 RBI as Stonehill recorded its fifth straight win, taking the two game set over St. Anselm with an 8-4 win Wednesday afternoon on Lou Gorman Field.

Guzman, who had seven hits in his nine at-bats in the two games against the Hawks, also made several stellar defensive plays in the field, aiding the solid effort of senior starter Mat Lindenmayer (Penfield, N.Y.) and freshman reliever Nick Peters (Newton, Mass.). Lindenmayer went seven innings, allowing three earned runs and seven hits to pick up the win. Of the 21 outs he recorded, 17 were on groundballs and three others were strikeouts.

Peters, meanwhile, finished off the game with two strong innings of relief, yielding just one hit while striking out four.

The Skyhawks jumped out early, scoring two runs in the first and three more in the second to take a 5-0 lead after two innings.

St. Anselm trimmed the lead to 5-2 in the top half of the third on a two-run double to center by Ryan Gargan. They tacked on another run in the fourth after a walk and a double to right center by Matt Stone.

The score stayed that way until the bottom of the sixth when Guzman broke the game open with a double to right field, scoring both Rob Von Stein (Trumbull, Conn.) and Matt Orr (Wilton, Conn.), who both singled to open the inning.

Stonehill added another run in the bottom of the eighth on a Brendan Shepard (Boxford, Mass.) groundout that drove in Mitch Davis (Bow, N.H.).

Orr went 2-for-4 on the day, while Dave Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.) was 2-for-5 with 3 RBI. Davis had a productive afternoon in the leadoff spot, going 2-for-2 with three runs scored.

The Skyhawks, now 12-6 overall and 4-0 in Northeast-10 play, travel to American International for meeting with the Yellow Jackets.
