Colchester, Vt. - After dropping a 9-4 decision in game one to host St. Michael's, Stonehill banged out 16 hits en route to a 14-0 win to salvage a split with the Purple Knights at Doc Jacobs Field on Tuesday afternoon.

St. Michael's won game one behind a complete game performance from sophomore Mike McDonough. He fired an eight-hitter while fanning three batters in a 114-pitch outing to improve to 2-4 on the season.

Holding on to a 3-2 lead in the third, Stonehill saw the Purple Knights score four runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead for good. The inning was highlighted by a two-run triple that chased Skyhawk starter Joey SantaBarbara (Middleton, Mass.).

St. Michael's out-hit Stonehill 13-8, lead by three singles from Evan Grenier, while the Skyhawks got two hits apiece from Mitch Davis (Bow, N.H.) and Javier Guzman (San Juan, P.R.).

In game two, the Skyhawks scored seven runs in the first inning to easily earn the split. Eight of Stonehill's starters picked up a base hit in the 16-hit attack, as Davis led the way with three singles, three RBIs and two runs scored. Nate Weber (Hanson, Mass.) also went 3-for-5 with a double, two singles and two runs, while Scott Hackett (Bangor, Maine) doubled, singled, scored twice and drove in a pair.

Freshman Dan Corrigan (Portsmouth, R.I.) improved to 3-0 on the season with the complete-game five-hitter, walking one and striking out three.

The Skyhawks return to the diamond on Wednesday when they travel to Springfield for a meeting with American International.
