Stonehill women’s basketball and success have been synonymous with one another throughout the program’s existence, as every team in its 33-year history has finished with a winning record. Head Coach Trisha Brown knows a thing or two about success; from her playing days at Harvard to her coaching career at Stonehill, Brown has been on the winning side her whole career.

In just her second season at Stonehill, Brown led the ‘02-‘03 Chieftains to its best record five years, as they posted a 22-8 record and appeared in the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship game. Stonehill finished that season ranked in the top 25 for the first time in three seasons, and Brown coached her first 1,000-point scorer in a Chieftain uniform, Northeast-10 standout turned assistant coach Kristen McDonnell ’03. Brown’s success continued the following season, as she led the team to the program’s 16th-20-win campaign with a 21-8 record and yet another appearance in the NCAA Northeast Regional. In three seasons, Coach Brown has guided the Chieftains to a 58-30 (.659) record.

A native of Norwood, Mass. and a 1987 graduate of Harvard, Brown helped lead her alma mater to five Ivy League Championships as a part of Head Coach Kathy Delaney-Smith’s staff, including the 1997-98 squad that posted a school-record 23 victories and became the first #16 seed in NCAA Tournament history (men’s or women’s) to upset a top-seed, as Harvard ended Stanford’s 59-game home with streak. Trisha was responsible for assisting Delaney-Smith with all aspects of the Crimson program and additionally served as Harvard’s recruiting coordinator for four seasons.

Just the third women’s basketball coach in Stonehill history, Brown was one of Delaney-Smith’s first recruits at Harvard and captained the Crimson’s first Ivy League championship team in 1985-86 that posted a 20-7 mark. A two-time team co-captain, Brown received Harvard’s Most Improved Award as a player in 1985 and was a two-sport athlete during her career, as she also played softball for the Crimson. Brown was named to Harvard’s Silver Anniversary Team for softball in 1988-89 as part of the celebration of 25 years of women’s athletics in the Ivy League. Trisha was a standout player at Norwood High School and spent time as the assistant girls’ basketball coach at Walpole (Mass.) High School. She also served as a corporate recruiter for Pansophonic Systems, Inc. in Chicago, Ill.
