The longest tenured coach in Stonehill College history, Peter Miller is in his 40th season at the helm of the men's tennis program at his alma mater. Miller, a 1975 Stonehill graduate and inductee to the Stonehill Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009, has led the Skyhawks to great heights over the course of his nearly 40 year association with the program.
Miller has led Stonehill to a 353-268 (.568) record, the 2009 Northeast-10 Conference regular season and tournament championship and six NCAA Tournament bids, as head coach.
2008-09 was a banner year for Miller and the tennis program. Stonehill finished the season with a school-record 18 wins and also made their third consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament. It also marked the third consecutive season the Skyhawks won at least 15 games. Stonehill also hosted the NCAA Division II East Regional as the fourth seed, and placed three singles players and a doubles team on the Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team.
In the 2007 season, Stonehill finished with a 10-1 conference mark and went 15-6 overall. Though Miller’s team fell short in the NE-10 Conference Tournament the Skyhawks were rewarded for their play as they received a berth in the NCAA tournament as the eighth seed and hosted the NCAA Division II East Regional for the second straight season.

In 2006 Stonehill bested the then school record for victories with a 15-6 overall record, including a 10-1 slate in NE-10 play. The Skyhawks also hosted 2006 NCAA Division II East Regional after earning their second championship berth in three years. Eight individuals earned all-conference honors in both singles and doubles play for their efforts.
Success has been a trademark of Miller's program throughout his long tenure, as he has posted 233 dual-match victories to rank as the winningest coach in the 54-year history of Stonehill men's tennis. The 2004 season saw the Skyhawks earn their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance after posting their first double-digit victory total in over a quarter century, and Miller was recognized as the Northeast-10 Coach of the Year for the first time in his career following that campaign.
A three-year letter winner at Stonehill during his playing days, Miller helped guide the Skyhawks to a 26-19 record from 1972-75, including an 8-2 mark during his senior season. Peter returned to his alma mater in 1979 to take over the fledgling women's tennis program at the College, as he collected 13 dual-match victories on the women's side in four seasons before concentrating solely on the men's team after the 1982 season.
Throughout the 1980s, Miller guided Stonehill to 67 dual-match victories, including 10 wins in the 1988 season. After a year's sabbatical in 1991, Miller returned to helm in 1992 and has led the Skyhawks for the last 16 seasons.
Miller, a retired high school teacher in the Mansfield (Mass.) Public School District, resides in Smithfield, R.I.
