A resident of Marshfield, Ron Richard had a distinguished basketball career after turning heads playing high school ball at Taunton's Coyle High School. During his four years at Stonehill, Ron graduated with 1,302 career points, good for 12th on the all-time list. In his senior year, Ron Served as co-captain under Coach George Blaney. Richard scored a school record 49 points against Norwich. After graduating from Stonehill, Ron was invited to the U.S. Olympic Basketball training camp in 1970 and played military basketball for the Air Force in 1970 and 1972. In 1972, Ron was apart of the U.S. Basketball Team tour that visited the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, and South America.
