Northeast-10 Conference Announce Fall 2019 Academic Honor Roll

EASTON, Mass. (January 31, 2020)– The Northeast-10 Conference has announced its Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2019 semester, recognizing 294 student-athletes from Stonehill who have earned a semester grade point average of 3.00 or higher.

The NE10 Academic Honor Roll acknowledges the commitment of NE10 student-athletes in the classroom with three distinctions – Academic Excellence (4.00 GPA), Academic Distinction (3.50-3.99 GPA), and Academic Honors (3.00-3.49 GPA). Of the 3,693 student-athletes that were named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll, 294 Skyhawks represented Stonehill, which is 67-percent of the student-athlete population. Stonehill was fourth over the 14 NE10 schools and three affiliates, while we were one of the 12 schools with at least 50-percent of our student-athletes on the list.

Leading the way with 87-percent of their roster on the Honor Roll was the women's basketball team. Following them was the volleyball team with 86-percent represented and then the women's soccer team with 85-percent representation. On the men's side, men's ice hockey had 78-percent of their roster make the Honor Roll with men's basketball seeing 73-percent and baseball rounding out the top three with 72-percent. Of the 10 women's teams, all 10 had 50-percent or more of their team named to the Honor Roll, while seven of the eight men's teams saw 50-percent or more honored.

Among the 294 student-athletes named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, 10 achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, seven of which did so during their team's season. Earning the highest of honors while in season were women's cross country track and field seniors Jordan Callahan, Anna Lastra, Kacie Higgins, and Kelly Higgins and junior Sam Curtin. From the volleyball team, senior Rachel Dunlavy earned her seventh perfect 4.0 as a Skyhawk, while field hockey sophomore Elisha Brinkman and football senior Michael Curtin also were perfect in the classroom.

Out of season Skyhawks included women's track & field senior Elizabeth Balzarini, men's track & field sophomore Evan Kennedy, and men's tennis senior Manu Ravichandrakumar.

Stonehill has won the NE10 Presidents' Cup five times, all coming within the last 14 years. The Skyhawks have received the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Achievement each of the first nine years of the program's existence of honoring institutions with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90-percent or better. Stonehill has earned a 95% Academic Success Ranking (ASR) by the NCAA, which considers the academic success rate of the institution based on the graduation rate of student-athletes, good for tenth among all NCAA Division II institutions, with nine Skyhawk teams receiving a perfect rating of 100%.
