Northeast-10 Conference Announces Spring 2019 Academic Honor Roll
EASTON, Mass. (June 24, 2019)– The Northeast-10 Conference has announced its Academic Honor Roll for the Spring 2019 semester, recognizing 261 student-athletes from Stonehill who have earned a semester grade point average of 3.00 or higher.
The NE10 Academic Honor Roll acknowledges the commitment of NE10 student-athletes in the classroom with three distinctions – Academic Excellence (4.00 GPA), Academic Distinction (3.50-3.99 GPA), and Academic Honors (3.00-3.49 GPA). Of the 3,560 student-athletes that were named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll, 261 Skyhawks represented Stonehill, which is 59-percent of the student-athlete population.
Leading the way with 100-percent of their roster on the Honor Roll was the women's cross country team. Following them was the volleyball team with 91-percent represented and then the women's track & field team with 87-percent representation. On the men's side, men's ice hockey had 76-percent of their roster make the Honor Roll with men's track & field and cross country teams both with 64-percent honored tying for second, and the men's tennis team was close behind with 63-percent. Of the 10 women's teams, eight had 50-percent or more of their team named to the Honor Roll, while seven of the eight men's teams saw 50-percent or more honored.
Among the 261 student-athletes named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, 11 achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, four of which did so during their team's season. Earning the highest of honors while in season were men's track and field senior Riley Dowd, women's track & field seniors Taylor Landers and Olivia Dexter, and junior Jordan Callahan.
Volleyball senior Megan Pennino and junior Rachel Dunlavy, football sophomore Derek Ivey, men's soccer senior Patrick Doherty and sophomore Michael McShane, women's soccer seniors Madalyn Fernbach and Emily Scollard were also among the 11 perfect GPAs.
With 21 intercollegiate sports, Stonehill boasts one of the top athletic and academic programs in the country. Stonehill has won the Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup five times, all coming within the last 14 years. The Skyhawks have received the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Achievement each of the first eight years of the program's existence of honoring institutions with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90-percent or better. Stonehill has earned a 96% Academic Success Ranking (ASR) by the NCAA, which considers the academic success rate of the institution based on the graduation rate of student-athletes, good for seventh among all NCAA Division II institutions, with eight Skyhawk teams receiving a perfect rating of 100%. In addition, the Skyhawks are ranked 11th in the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings for Division II used to assess the academic and athletic standards of all NCAA and NAIA athletic programs.
