EASTON, Mass. (December 18, 2018) – Stonehill College is tied for second in the Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup Standings at the conclusion of the fall season, the league announced, and is also ranked 22nd in the latest NCAA Division II Learfield Director's Cup standings.
Stonehill, which has finished in the top three of the final NE10 Presidents' Cup standings for 14-straight years after a third-place showing in 2017-18, compiled 82.5 points during the fall as a result of winning three NE10 Championships, earning maximum points in two sports, and are tied with Merrimack College, the reigning Presidents' Cup champions, just seven points behind leaders Southern New Hampshire University with 89.5 points. Assumption College is close behind the top three in fourth place with 79.5 points, while Adelphi University rounds out the top five with 72 points. The NE10 Presidents' Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the Conference. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points, based on finishes in the regular-season standings, from all of its programs competing in league championships. Points for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, and men's and women's golf are awarded based on placement in those sports' respective conference championships.
In addition to its 14 straight top three finishes, Stonehill has won the NE-10 Presidents' Cup five times, following the 2005-06, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2014-15 academic years.
Stonehill is ranked 22nd in the most recent Learfield Sports Director's Cup NCAA Division II standings released following the 2018 NCAA Fall Championships Festival in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Skyhawks lead all NE10 institutions in the Learfield standings with 139.50 points from NCAA Championships participation for women's cross country (61.5), women's soccer (25) and men's cross country (53). American International College (127 points) in 24th place and Adelphi University (123) are also in the top 25 from the NE10.

Stonehill captured three NE10 Championships during the fall, sweeping the regular season and tournament crowns in women's tennis, to go along with the women's cross country program's 17th Conference title in program history. Women's Tennis added its sixth tournament championship to a run of three-straight regular season titles (ninth overall) with a 4-0 win over Merrimack on October 28. Six programs competed in NE10 Championships play during the fall, with men's cross country finishing second at its Conference championship to help vault the Skyhawks into a second place tie in the Presidents' Cup.
While women's tennis locked up an NCAA Tournament bid next spring, men's and women's cross country and women's soccer all made NCAA Tournament appearances this fall. The cross country programs both won East Region Championships on Long Island in November to earn trips to the NCAA Division II Championships earlier this month, while women's soccer earned its second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history – both of which have come over the last three years. Women's Cross Country won its 15th regional championship, reaching the NCAA Championships for the 18th-straight year, where it placed 14th, while the men won the regional title for the fifth time in program history, reaching its 16th-straight NCAA Championships trip, where the Skyhawks finished 21st.
With 21 intercollegiate sports, Stonehill boasts one of the top athletic and academic programs in the country. In addition to finishing in the top three of the Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup standings for overall athletic performance 14 straight years, the Skyhawks have received the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Achievement each of the first eighth years of the program's existence of honoring institutions with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90-percent or better. Stonehill has earned a 96% Academic Success Ranking (ASR) by the NCAA, which considers the academic success rate of the institution based on the graduation rate of student-athletes, good for seventh among all NCAA Division II institutions, with eight Skyhawk teams receiving a perfect rating of 100%. In addition, the Skyhawks are ranked 11th in the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings for Division II used to assess the academic and athletic standards of all NCAA and NAIA athletic programs.
