Stonehill's women's lacrosse standout is College's 12th member of NE10 Hall of Fame
NE10 Hall of Fame Inductee: Erin Acone
EASTON, Mass. (August 7, 2018) – Former Stonehill College women's lacrosse standout Erin Acone, '06 has been recognized with induction to the Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame as a member of its 2018 class. Acone will be formally honored in a ceremony on the Stonehill campus on Thursday, August 16.
Acone, a member of the Stonehill Athletic Hall of Fame's Class of 2013, is one of the most decorated student-athletes in the history of the College. She is the 12th student-athlete, coach/administrator or team, from Stonehill to be inducted to the NE10 Hall of Fame and the school's first since women's basketball standout Sue Patchett, '97 was named to the Hall of Fame in 2015. Acone joins former teammate and current Stonehill head coach Katie (Lambert) Conover, '03 as well as the 2003 and 2005 national championship teams as Stonehill women's lacrosse members of the NE10 Hall of Fame.
Acone was a four-time first team All-American and three-time NE10 Player of the Year over her four-year career at Stonehill. She helped lead Stonehill to a 68-8 record overall, including a perfect 39-0 mark in the NE10 over her career, winning a pair of NCAA Division II National Championships, while sweeping the NE10 regular season and tournament championships all four years. Acone is the first two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America selection in Stonehill history, was twice named to the Tewaarton Award Watch List and is the 2005 Inside Lacrosse Division II Offensive Player of the Year. She appeared in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of the June 12, 2006, issue of Sports Illustrated.
Acone, a native of Bow, New Hampshire, that attended Bow High School, played 76 games over her Stonehill career and was the eighth student-athlete in NCAA Division II history to surpass 300 career points, finishing with 311 points on 227 goals and 84 assists. She still ranks third in program history for points, second in goals and sixth in assists. Acone netted 70 goals and dished out 19 assists for 89 points in leading Stonehill to a 21-0 record and its second National Championship in program history in 2005. The goal total still ranks second all-time at Stonehill and her 90 points on 61 goals and 29 assists in 2006 ranks fourth all-time.

With 21 intercollegiate sports, Stonehill boasts one of the top athletic and academic programs in the country. Stonehill has finished in the top three of the Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup standings for overall athletic performance 14 straight years, following a third place finish in 2017-18, having won the Presidents' Cup five times. The Skyhawks have received the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Achievement each of the first seven years of the program's existence of honoring institutions with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90-percent or better. Stonehill has earned a 97% Academic Success Ranking (ASR) by the NCAA, which considers the academic success rate of the institution based on the graduation rate of student-athletes, good for fourth among all NCAA Division II institutions, with ten Skyhawk teams receiving a perfect rating of 100%. In addition, the Skyhawks are ranked third in the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings for Division II used to assess the academic and athletic standards of all NCAA and NAIA athletic programs.
