EASTON, Mass. (February 9, 2018) – A total of 297 Stonehill College student-athletes have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Fall 2017 Commissioner's Honor Roll for earning a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, the league office announced Friday.

61% of all NE10 student-athletes were recognized by the NE10, where it is one-percent below the conference's high mark of 62%, which was accomplished last fall. The NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes the conference's student-athletes for their achievements within the classroom. In order to be eligible for the selection, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Among the 249 student-athletes that posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in the NE10, Stonehill saw seven achieve the maximum grade point average. Three out of the seven did so during their team's seasons. Earning the highest of honors while in season were football senior Charlie Calenda (Chelmsford, Massachusetts/Chelmsford) and sophomore Michael Curtin (Sterling, Massachusetts/Nashoba Regional), and women's soccer freshman Miranda Ciccarelli (Littleton, Colorado/Heritage). Senior softball student-athlete Erin Brayden (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy), women's lacrosse senior Kelly Healey (Westwood, Massachusetts/Westwood) and junior Isabelle Kenny (Niantic, Connecticut/East Lyme), and sophomore women's track and field student-athlete Sinead O'Brien (Norwood, Massachusetts/Norwood) were also among the seven perfect GPAs.

Football led with the most student-athletes on the Commissioner's Honor Roll with 66 being named to the list. On the women's side, volleyball had 93% of its student-athletes being named to the honor roll, while women's cross country (89%) and women's track and field (88%) followed. From the men's teams, men's soccer had the highest percent named with 77%, as football and men's track and field each had 67% tabbed on the list.

With 21 intercollegiate sports, Stonehill boasts one of the top athletic and academic programs in the country. While finishing in the top three of the Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup standings for overall athletic performance 13 straight years, the Skyhawks are ranked third in the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings for Division II used to assess the academic and athletic standards of all NCAA and NAIA athletic programs.
