Skyhawks earn first At Large Academic All-District honors as voted by CoSIDA

Large Teams
EASTON, Mass. (May 20, 2013) – Stonehill College has placed two student-athletes on the Capital One Academic All-District I Women’s At Large Team, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members in Division II from the East Region.
Senior All-American Kayla Green (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry), from the Stonehill women’s lacrosse program, and junior All-American Devin Ingersoll (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) have both earned Academic All-District honors for the first time with their spots on the Division II Women’s At Large first team and are now eligible for Academic All-America honors, voted on by members of the CoSIDA Academic All-America committee members, to be announced later this month. The CoSIDA women's at large Academic All-America program includes student-athletes competing in bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, and water polo.

Green, who graduated on Sunday with a 3.70 cumulative grade point average as a communication major, was named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America second team last week. It marks the third straight year a Stonehill lacrosse student-athlete has been named to the All-District I team as Green follows former teammates Samantha Lynott, ’12, who earned All-District honors in 2011 and 2012 as well as Jaclyn Craig, ’10, an honoree in 2010. Green, a Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference selection her junior year, received the College’s Saint Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal for having the highest cumulative GPA on the team as a sophomore and junior.
The Lambda Epsilon Sigma and Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society member has also earned the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award two straight years and has been named to both the NE-10 Commissioner's and Athletic Director's honor roll every semester.
Green, a two-time IWLCA All-North Region and All-Northeast-10 first team pick, led Stonehill with 64 goals (4th NE-10), including two game winners, and 25 assists (4th) for a team-best 89 points (2nd) during her recently completed senior season, to go with 18 ground balls, 13 draw controls and five caused turnovers. She is ranked tenth nationally in Division II for goals scored and 13th in scoring. Her 64 goals this season rank fifth on Stonehill's single-season list, while her 89 points are tied for sixth all-time. Green became the 12th player in program history to surpass 200 career points earlier this spring and has now totaled 179 goals and 61 assists for 240 points in 75 career games played. She ranks seventh in program history for career goals and points.
Stonehill (13-7, 10-2 NE-10) women’s lacrosse, ranked ninth in the final regular season IWLCA Division II poll, earned its seventh NCAA Tournament bid in program history this season and made its 15th-straight appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Championship.

Ingersoll has earned a 3.81 cumulative grade point average as an environmental studies major at Stonehill, including a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall 2012 semester. She earned NE-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the first time this past fall and has received NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status every semester at the College and Athletic Director's Honor Roll two semesters, while receiving the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award for the first time last summer. Ingersoll spent the Spring 2013 semester studying abroad in Australia, conducting field research in the Outback. She is also the field hockey team’s representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Ingersoll has been named to the Gladiator by SGU/NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad all three years.
Ingersoll earned All-America honors for the first time last fall with a spot on the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches’ Association (NFHCA) second team, while also collecting All-Northeast-10 honors for the first time with a spot on the first team. The 2010 NE-10 Rookie of the Year led Stonehill with 25 points (11th NE-10) on a team-high 12 goals (6th) with one assist in 19 games this season. Ingersoll netted a team-high four game winning goals (3rd) and her goal total this season is tied for tenth on the program's single-season list. Ingersoll has started all 62 games over her three year career at Stonehill and totaled 19 goals and nine assists for 47 points. In addition to Rookie of the Year honors from the NE-10 her freshman year, she was also named to the NE-10 and womensfieldhockey.com Division II All-Rookie teams.
Ingersoll’s Academic All-District selection is the third for the Stonehill field hockey program over the last three seasons, with former teammates Lindsey Pinkham, ’11, and Kathryn Nelson, ’12, both receiving the honors in 2011.
Stonehill field hockey finished with a 9-10 record overall this season, including a 5-5 mark in NE-10 play to finish sixth in the Conference standings. The Skyhawks earned a 15th-straight postseason trip before falling to eventual Northeast-10 Tournament champions UMass Lowell in the first round.
Stonehill captured the Northeast-10 Conference Presidents’ Cup for the third-straight year and fourth time overall at the conclusion of the 2011-12 academic year, Stonehill finished ranked 68th in the final Learfield Sports Directors Cup standings which recognizes overall athletic achievement in NCAA championships. Stonehill has received the NCAA Division II Presidents’ Award for Academic Achievement each of the first two years if the program’s existence of honoring programs with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90-percent or better. The athletics program is also ranked sixth in the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings used to assess the academic and athletic standards of all NCAA and NAIA athletic programs, marking a fourth straight top ten placement.
