Women’s Cross Country Posts Runner-Up Mark at Division II/III Challenge

O'Keefe led the way for the Skyhawks 


Freeman was the second Skyhawk across the finish line, placing sixth out of 160 competitors

KUTZTOWN, Pennsylvania (September 14, 2019) - The Stonehill College women's cross country team, ranked No. 2 in the East Regional and No. 25 in the National U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA), finished second out of 13 teams at the Kutztown Division II/III Challenge, hosted by Kutztown University Saturday morning.

Malone University, who totaled 41 points, took home the team title with five out of their seven runners placing in the top 20. The Skyhawks, who also saw five of their seven runners in the top 20, finished second overall with 56 points, while West Chester University followed in third place with 86 total points.

Sophomore Siobhan O'Keefe led the way for the Skyhawks with her third-place finish with a time of 22:58.2 in the six-kilometer race. Senior Alyssa Freeman was close behind with her time of 23:34.6, finishing in sixth place out of 160 competitors.

Seniors Anna Lastra and Jordan Callahan finished 13th and 14th, respectively. Lastra clocked in a time of 23:49.6, while Callahan crossed the finish line in 23:49.8.

Sophomore Isabella Kennedy was the fifth Skyhawk to score points for the team as she clocked in a time of 24:04.9 taking 20th.

Sophomore Claire Mason and senior Kelly Higgins rounded out the seven Skyhawks that competed finishing 21st and 29th, respectively.

The Skyhawks take two weeks off before heading back to Pennsylvania again for the Lehigh Paul Short Run on Saturday, October 5, hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
