Women’s Cross Country Finishes Third at Shawn M. Nassaney Invitational

Anderle was the second Skyhawk across the finish line


Kennedy led the way for the Skyhawks in the season opener

SMITHFIELD, Rhode Island (September 7, 2019) - The Stonehill College women's cross country team, ranked No. 2 in the East Regional and No. 25 in the National U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA), finished third out of eight teams at the Shawn M. Nassaney Invitational, hosted by Bryant University, on Saturday.

Sophomore Isabella Kennedy led the Skyhawks to the top-five finish with her 25th-place finish out of 125 competitors in the five-kilometer race. She crossed the line with a time of 19:19.8. Junior Sophia Anderle followed in 28th place, as senior Alyssa Freeman took home 29th place. Anderle clocked in a time of 19:25.7, as Freeman ran a time of 19:27.8.

Senior Anna Lastra and sophomore Siobhan O'Keefe both finished the season opening meet in 19:28.1, finishing 31st and 32nd, respectively.

Junior Jillian Howard, senior Jordan Callahan, and sophomore Claire Mason rounded out the top eight Skyhawks, who all finished in the top 50. Howard finished 34th with a time of 19:31.3, as Callahan and Mason finished 36th and 37th, respectively.

The Skyhawks travel to Kutztown, Pennsylvania to compete in the Kutztown Division II/III Challenge on Saturday, September 14 for their next meet.
