Women’s Cross Country Takes Home Bruce Kirsh Cup

HOPKINTON, New Hampshire (October 20, 2018) - The Stonehill College women's cross country team, ranked No. 1 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association East Regional Rankings (USTFCCCA), earned its second title of the season at the Sixth Annual Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup hosted by Franklin Pierce University on Saturday afternoon.

The Skyhawks totaled 40 points in the 11 team competition, as Merrimack College finished second with 82 points. Saint Anselm College combined for 108 points, good for third place, while Southern New Hampshire University took home fourth with 116 points and Assumption College totaled 139 points rounding out the top five teams.

Senior Isabel Baker led the Skyhawks with her fifth-place finish out of 124 competitors clocking in a time of 18:55.8. Sophomore Sophia Anderle followed in sixth place, finishing the five-kilometer race with a time of 19:04.9, as Jordan Callahan placed seventh with a time of 19:08.7.

Senior Makenzie Cyr rounded out the top 10 with a time of 19:17.4, good for 10th. Four Skyhawks followed one another finishing in 12th-15th place. Freshman Rebecca Erhard led the quartet with a time of 19:19.9, as junior Anna Lastra was next with a mark of 19:20.3. Freshman Siobhan O'Keefe was third in the quartet clocking in at 19:21.3 and sophomore Sam Curtin took home a 15th-place finish with a time of 19:23.2.

Senior Jillian Caiazzi earned a top-20 finish with her time of 19:33.0, placing 19th overall, while junior Kelly Higgins placed 22nd overall clocking in at 19:40.2. Her sister Kacie Higgins crossed the finish line in 19:53.1, good for 28th place, as classmate Danika Wayss place 39th with a time of 20:21.1.

The Skyhawks take a week off before returning to the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, New Hampshire on Sunday, November 4 in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, hosted by Franklin Pierce University.
