Skyhawks swept NE-10 Championships for cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field, claim five All-America awards
USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Program of the Year Announcement
EASTON, Mass (June 10, 2016) – The Stonehill women's cross country and track & field programs are ranked 11th in the final U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)/Jerry Baltes NCAA Division II Women's Program of the Year standings. It marks the second-straight year that the Skyhawks have been ranked in the final standings after finishing tenth a year ago.
The USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award is presented annually to the most outstanding cross country/track & field programs in each gender of the NCAA's three divisions. The award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year (spanning the cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field seasons) based on the institution's finish at the NCAA Championships.
Stonehill's women's programs swept the Northeast-10 Conference championships in cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field for the second time over the last three years, en route to their qualification for all three National Championship meets. The Skyhawks finished with 95.5 points in the Program of the Year standings, earning 14 points for its 14th place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Joplin, Missouri, 41 points for a 40th place showing at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, and then 40.5 points for a 39th place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Bradenton, Florida, last month. Hillsdale College of Michigan was named the Jerry Baltes Women's Program of the Year with top three finishes at the NCAA Championships.
The Stonehill women's cross country program won its seventh straight Northeast-10 Championship by an impressive 93-point margin at Saint Michael's College in October, marking the 14th NE-10 title in program history. Junior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) started an impressive season for herself by capturing the program's first individual NE-10 title in 13 years, before also winning the NCAA East Regional, in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, to lead the Skyhawks to a sixth regional title in seven years and 14th all-time. She would earn Female Athlete of the Year honors for both the NE-10 and East Region by the USTFCCCA.
Stonehill's 14th Regional Championship in program history clinched a 16th straight trip to the NCAA Division II Championships. Borofski again led by way for the Skyhawks by posting the sixth All-America performance in program history with her 39th place finish overall.

Stonehill won its third straight Northeast-10 Indoor Track & Field Championship in February and then posted a seventh place team finish at the New England Championships a week later, marking its highest-ever finish at the meet. Borofski qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships with the Skyhawks 4000-meter distance medley relay as well as for the 3000-meter run, earning All-America honors for both events. She ran the one mile anchor leg for the DMR which finished sixth in a program-record 11:35.05, with seniors Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate) running the 400-meter leg and Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) completing the 800-meter leg after junior Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown) ran the opening 1200-meter leg to also collect All-America honors in the event.
Stonehill capped the year with its second Northeast-10 Outdoor Championship in program history in May, before adding an eighth place team finish at the New England Outdoor Championships. Borofski and McAdams both qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, with Borofski becoming the first student-athlete in program history to earn All-America honors for all three seasons in the same academic year with her third place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a program-record 10:15.27, marking the tenth-fastest time in NCAA Division II history, for the highest finish ever by a female student-athlete at an NCAA Championship meet. McAdams competed individually at an NCAA Championship for the first time with her qualification in the 1500-meter run.
Stonehill's Hall of Fame head coach Karen Boen was recognized with five Coach of the Year awards over the course of the year to date, with NE-10 Outdoor Track & Field honors still pending. She swept NE-10 and USTFCCCA East Region Coach of the Year accolades for cross country and indoor track & field to go with East Region honors for Outdoor Track & Field as well.
The 2016 Stonehill cross country schedule will be released within the coming weeks, with the College hosting the Northeast-10 Conference Championships in October.
