Three Skyhawks collect individual All-Academic accolades

EASTON, Mass. (March 4, 2016) – The Stonehill College women's cross country team has earned All-Academic honors for the 2015 season from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), while three Skyhawks collected individual All-Academic accolades.

Juniors Aisha McAdams (North Kingston, Rhode Island/North Kingston) and Alexandra Buonfiglio (Lynnfield, Massachusetts/Lynnfield), and freshman Elizabeth Hannon (Franklin, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan) were recognized for posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher while also finishing among the top-30 percent of total eligible runners at the regional championship or in the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships.

Stonehill was among 137 women's NCAA Division II teams to earn All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA. To qualify for this award, programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and scored at their NCAA regional meet. The Skyhawks captured their seventh consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Championship in late October, before grabbing their thirteenth East Region Championships and capping the 2015 season with their 16^th consecutive appearance at the NCAA DII Championships. Academically, Stonehill registered a 3.17 cumulative GPA through the fall semester.

McAdams, who has earned a 3.54 cumulative grade point average as a communication major at Stonehill, earns her third consecutive USTFCCCA All-Academic. McAdams has also earned NE-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the first time in her career in addition to being named the Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award recipient for women's cross country. She helped lead the Skyhawks to a seventh straight NE-10 Championship and 13th NCAA East Regional title to advance to the NCAA Division II Championships for the 16th straight year. McAdams has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Rolls all five semesters at the College.

McAdams earned All-Northeast-10 Conference first team honors for the third straight year this fall with her second place finish at the NE-10 Championships in 22:32.0 over the six-kilometer course. She also earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-East Region honors for the second time with a 15th place finish at the East Regional in 22:12.78 over the six-kilometers. McAdams also posted a third place finish at the Ted Owen Invitational (18:49.8).

Buonfiglio established herself as one of Stonehill's top runners in 2015, as she collected three top-10 finishes. The Lynnfield, Massachusetts native placed seventh at the Northeast-10 Championship and 17^th at the East Region Championship, collecting first team All-Conference and All-East Region honors along the way. A psychology major with a 3.51 cumulative GPA, Buonfiglio has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll on five occasions, and to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll twice.

Rounding out Stonehill's three USTFCCCA All-Academic performers for the 2015 cross country season is Hannon, who made an immediate impact in her first year as a Skyhawk. The Franklin, Massachusetts native placed eighth at the NE-10 Championships with a time of 22:50.3, taking home All-Conference second team honors. Hannon also recorded a top five finish at the East Region Championships, finishing fifth with a time of 21:55.7 and earning All-Region accolades.

Hannon, an engineering major, earned a near perfect 3.94 GPA during her first semester at Stonehill to land on both the NE-10 and Athletic Director's Honor Rolls.
