Borofski posts Skyhawks first individual championship in 13 years to lead dominating team performance
COLCHESTER, Vt. (October 25, 2015) – The Stonehill College women's cross country team, ranked 16th overall in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) Division II national poll and first in the East Regional poll, captured its seventh-straight Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) championship and 14th in program history overall on Sunday morning in Colchester, Vermont, hosted by Saint Michael's College.
Stonehill scored 23 points to earn its seventh-straight conference championship in dominating fashion with all five of its scoring running finishing in the top eight and seven inside the top-25. Bentley University tallied 116 points to finish as runners-up, 93 points behind the Skyhawks, while Assumption College was third (126). American International College fourth (140) and Merrimack College (143) rounded out the top-five.
The Stonehill women's cross country team dominated the field Sunday afternoon, placing five runners in the top eight. Junior Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) led the way for the Skyhawks, completing the course in 21:48.8, 43 seconds faster than the runner up and the only female competitor to run a sub 6:00 mile. Borofski is the first individual women's NE-10 Champion from Stonehill since Meghan Shannahan in 2002.

Junior Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown) finished runner up to Borofski, posting a time of 22:32.0. McAdams earned first team All-Conference honors for the second time in her career, finishing in seventh place her freshman year.
Freshman Makenzie Cyr (Douglas, Massachusetts/Douglas) turned in the best performance of her young career today, finishing fifth and landing on the All-NE-10 first team after posting a time of 22:44.1 on the six-kilometer course.
Junior Alexandra Buonfiglio (Lynnfield, Massachusetts/Lynnfield) and freshman Elizabeth Hannon (Franklin, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan) were the next two Skyhawks to finish, earning times of 22:47.5 and 22:50.3, respectively, good for 7th and 8th place. Buonfiglio, who earned an All-NE-10 second team nod last year, collects first team honors while Hannon takes home second team honors.
Junior Alexandra Grimaldo (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) barely missed All-Conference honors, finishing in 23rd with a time of 23:52.8. Freshman Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) finished directly after Grimaldo, clocking in at 23:54.5.
Sophomore Abby Hersom (Rockland, Maine/Oceanside) was the eighth Skyhawk to complete today's course, doing so in 24:34.9, good for 42nd overall.
Freshman Anna Devitto (Pembroke, Massachusetts/Pembroke) and classmate Taylor Landers (North Andover, Massachusetts/Pingree School) rounded out Stonehill's entries on the day. Devitto placed 43rd and clocked in at 24:36.7, while Landers earned a time of 25:41.1, good for 78th overall.
Following today's Northeast-10 Conference Championship, Stonehill returns to action on November 8th at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships, held at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, and hosted by Franklin Pierce University.
