EASTON, Mass. (November 25, 2014) – Stonehill College sophomore Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) and freshman Emily Knox (Worcester, Massachusetts/Notre Dame Academy) have both earned weekly cross country honors from the Northeast-10 Conference, the league office announced this morning.

The duo posted All-East Region performances to lead Stonehill to a second-place finish on Saturday at the NCAA East Region Championship, held at Mine Falls Park in Nashua, New Hampshire and hosted by Franklin Pierce University and Merrimack College. Borofski was named Athlete of the Week for women's cross country for the second time this fall, while Knox collected the third Rookie of the Week honor of her freshman campaign.

Borofski, who earned All-NE-10 first team honors with her second-place finish at the conference championship meet on November 9th, followed that effort up by placing third overall on Saturday with a time of 21:48.8 on the six-kilometer course. The Plymouth, Massachusetts native was the first student-athlete from an NE-10 school to cross the finish line, after participants from Roberts Wesleyan College and LIU Post. Borofski's All-East Region performance was the second of her career, as she turned in a time of 23:06.7, good for 11th overall, at last season's East Region Championship at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts.

Sophomore Nicole Borofski earned her second NE-10 women's cross country Athlete of the Week honor after finishing third overall at the NCAA East Region Championship on Saturday with a time of 21:48.8.

A 2013 graduate of Plymouth North High School, Borofski was a four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track for the Eagles. She earned All-State honors in cross country all four years, and served as a team captain for both cross country and track as a junior and senior.

Knox, an All-Conference second team performer as a freshman with her 13th-place finish in 25:56.7 two weekends ago, continued her impressive rookie campaign on Saturday by placing tenth with a season-best time of 22:18. The Worcester, Mass. native opened her collegiate career with an 11th place effort in 19:42.9 at the five-kilometer Shacklette Invitational on September 6th, before breaking into the top-10 the following week with a ninth place performance in 23:32 at the DII/DIII Challenge.

A 2014 graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Worcester, Knox competed in both cross country and track & field for the Rebels, serving as a team captain for indoor track as a junior, and cross country, indoor, and outdoor track as a senior. She was a member of cross country teams that earned district runner-up finishes as a junior and senior, and indoor/outdoor track teams that captured the district championship as a senior.

This marks the second time this fall that Borofski and Knox have been recognized together by the NE-10. Borofski collected the first NE-10 Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor of her career on October 9th after posting a career-best time of 21:46, the second-fastest six-kilometer time in program history, at the Paul Short Collegiate Invitational in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Knox earned her second Rookie of the Week honor after turning in a time of 22:21, good for 186th overall and third among Skyhawks, at the same meet.

Stonehill, ranked 25th in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II poll, and ranked second in the East Region, earned its 15th consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship, which will be held this year on December 6th as part of the NCAA Fall Festival at the E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
