BOSTON, Mass. (October 11, 2014) – The Stonehill College women's cross country team, ranked No. 22 in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II poll, and ranked second in the East Region, finished 13th overall among 38 teams competing today at the New England Championships, held at Franklin Park in Dorchester, Massachusetts.

Senior Emily Anderson (Manchester, Connecticut/Manchester) paced the Skyhawks with her personal best time of 18:29.51, good for 46th overall on the five-kilometer course. Anderson's effort eclipsed her previous best of 19:15.1 that she set as a freshman at the 2011 New England Championships.

Not far behind was Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Athlete of the Week and 2013 NE-10 Rookie of the Year Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North), who crossed the finish line 52nd overall and clocked in at 18:32.58. This marks the second consecutive week that Borofski has set a personal record, after doing so last Saturday at the six-kilometer Paul Short Invitational.

Sophomore Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown) followed Borofski with her 72nd place finish in 18:45.47, while classmate Alexandra Buonfiglio (Lynnfield, Massachusetts/Lynnfield) turned in a 79th place effort with a time of 18:49.54. Buonfiglio's mark tops her previous best time of 19:18 at last season's NE-10 Championship.

Sophomore Nicole Borofski followed Anderson in 52nd place with a personal best 18:32.58 mark.

Senior Erin Rielly (Burlington, Massachusetts/Burlington) was the fifth Skyhawk to complete today's course, doing so in a personal best time of 18:53.77, good for 94th overall.

Two-time NE-10 Rookie of the Week Emily Knox (Worcester, Massachusetts/Notre Dame Academy) placed 129th in 19:11.55, while senior Brianna Venturo (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle & Cassidy) finished just two spots and less than a half second after, checking in at 19:11.90 (131st overall).

Stonehill's 338 points today were good enough for 13th overall, sandwiched between Division I programs Northeastern University (320 points, 12th) and the College of the Holy Cross (366 points, 14th). The University of New Hampshire placed three runners inside the top-10 and won the meet with 61 points, followed by Middlebury College (162 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (171 points). New Hampshire sophomore Elinor Purrier took individual honors, placing first in 17:27.38.

Stonehill's 13th place finish today was the program's best since it posted a 12th place effort in 2012. The Skyhawks also turned in 15th place performances in both 2013 and 2011.

Competing in the sub-varsity race today, senior Brittany Venturo (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle & Cassidy) finished 22nd overall, earning a time of 19:11.46. Freshman Julie Shultz (Billerica, Massachusetts/Billerica) placed 34th in 19:20.84, while senior Sarah Wilson (West Suffield, Connecticut/Suffield) came in two spots later with a 19:21.30 mark.

Rounding out Stonehill's entries in the sub-varsity race were freshmen Madison McGlone (Bellmore, New York/John F. Kennedy) and Abby Hersom (Rockland, Maine/Oceanside). McGlone and Hersom finished 155th and 169th, respectively, with times of 20:50.04 and 20:58.38.
