#22 Stonehill Captures Fourth Consecutive Shacklette Invitational

MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 6, 2014) – The Stonehill College women's cross country team, ranked 22nd in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II poll, and ranked first in the east region, captured its fourth consecutive Shacklette Invitational this afternoon on the campus of Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Stonehill placed sixed of its runners inside the top-25 of the race, led by senior Brianna Venturo (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle & Cassidy), who turned in a time of 19:06.2, good for second place overall. Junior Chloe Boutelle of Saint Michael's College won the 5-kilometer race, finishing first among 124 participants and clocking in at 18:51.7.

Running in their first collegiate meets, freshmen Emily Knox (Worcester, Massachusetts/Notre Dame Academy) and Kiera Murray (Falmouth, Maine/Cheverus) placed 11th and 12th, respectively, posting times of 19:42.9 and 19:50. Classmate Julie Schultz (Billerica, Massachusetts/Billerica) was the next Skyhawk to cross the finish line, doing so in 20:16, good for 18th overall, while junior Molly Hellman (Rumson, New Jersey/Rumson Fair-Haven Regional) finished 19th in 20:19.7.

Rounding out Stonehill's participants at the Shacklette was another pair of freshmen, Abby Hersom (Rockland, Maine/Oceanside) and Madison McGlone (Bellmore, New York/John F. Kennedy). Hersom finished 23rd and clocked in at 20:27.8, while McGlone placed 30th in 21:07.7.

Stonehill will be back in action next Saturday at the Division II/Division III Challenge, hosted by Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania.
