Regan Collects Third NE-10 Rookie of the Week Honor

Hanson, Mass., native honored after performance at NCAA Championships 

EASTON, Mass. (December 7, 2010) – Stonehill College freshman Emily Regan (Hanson, Mass./Whitman-Hanson) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for women's cross country by the league office for the third time this season.

Regan collects the award for the second-straight week after leading all Northeast-10 freshmen at the NCAA Division II Championships on Saturday with her 113th place finish overall as she completed the six-kilometer course in 23:45.0. Her time was second on the team and 17th among freshmen overall at the Championship, helping Stonehill to an 18th place team finish in Louisville, Ky.

Regan, who also earned Rookie of the Week honors on October 12 and November 23, has earned All-East Region and All-Northeast-10 Conference honors in her first collegiate season for Stonehill. She placed eighth overall at the NCAA East Regional on November 21 with her eighth place finish in 23:07 (6K) to help guide the Skyhawks to their second-straight regional title. Regan placed 19th at the NE-10 Championships with her time of 19:16.2 (5K) to help the Skyhawks win a second-straight conference crown and was the top Division II freshman at the New England Championships in October with her time of 19:32 (5K), finishing 126th overall (out of 322 runners) and sixth among DII runners overall.

Regan placed fourth in her collegiate debut at the Trinity Bantams Invitational in early September with a time of 16:39 over four-kilometers. She was 22nd at the Quinnipiac Invitational the next week with a time of 19:44 over 5K, before placing 82nd (out of 387) with a 6K time of 23:28 in the "Brown Race" of the Brooks-Lehigh-Paul Short Invitational.

Stonehill, ranked 25th in the final regular season U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II poll, closed out its season with its 18th place finish at the NCAA Championships after capturing its second-straight East Regional and NE-10 Championships this fall.
