BOSTON, Mass.-- Both nationally-ranked Stonehill cross country teams recorded solid performances in their respective 2006 New England Championships on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park, as the ninth-ranked Skyhawk men placed 12th of 45 teams in the competition while the 22nd-ranked Stonehill women's squad finished 14th of 46 teams.

Junior Joe Ryan (Chelmsford, Mass.) earned all-New England honors for the Skyhawk men on the day, as he finished ninth individually in covering the 8K layout in a time of 25:05. Fellow junior Keith Gill (Brockton, Mass.) was next in 16th place with a time of 25:13, while junior All-America David Metzger (Ellington, Conn.) placed 38th individually with a time of 25:30. Sophomore Matt Meagher (Mansfield, Mass.) and senior Tim Catoggio (Bradford, Mass.) closed out the Stonehill scoring by placing 121st and 125th, respectively, with times of 26:11 and 26:12, as UMass Lowell won the championship and Boston College finished as the runner-up. Northeast-10 rivals Merrimack (26th), Bentley (35th), Bryant (36th), Assumption (41st), Southern New Hampshire (44th) and Saint Anselm (45th) all followed the Skyhawks in the final standings.

Senior Dana DeIngenis (Cranston, R.I.) led the way on the women's side for Stonehill, as she placed 28th individually in covering the 5K layout in a time of 18:27. Senior Kelly Chaisson (Walpole, Mass.) was next in 39th place with a time of 18:33, while freshman Andrea Topalis (Simsbury, Conn.), senior Jill Allen (Peabody, Mass.) and junior Lesley Clunie (Newburyport, Mass.) all closed out the Skyhawk scoring by placing 124th, 135th and 146th, respectively, with times of 19:28, 19:33 and 19:38. Boston University won the team title over Amherst, as Stonehill was the top Division II entrant in the competition. Northeast-10 foes UMass Lowell (22nd), Bentley (29th), Bryant (41st), Southern Connecticut (42nd), Saint Michael's (43rd), Assumption (44th), Saint Anselm (45th) and Southern New Hampshire (46th) all finished behind the Skyhawks on the afternoon.

Stonehill heads to Williamstown, Mass. next Saturday afternoon to compete at the Williams Plansky Invitational, as the women's race begins at 12:30 p.m. followed by the men's race at 1:00 p.m.
